August 9, 20242 yr Author  Missed the top 40 this week? ¥$, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign FIELD TRIP Album track from VULTURES 2 Released: 3rd August 2024 Label: YZY Video 01STihN3mfw Biography Kanye West Ye (/jeɪ/ YAY; born Kanye Omari West /ˈkɑːnjeɪ/ KAHN-yay; June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer. One of the world's best-selling music artists with 160 million records sold, West has won 24 Grammy Awards, the joint tenth-most of all time and most awarded for any hip hop artist jointly with Jay-Z. His other accolades include a Billboard Artist Achievement Award, a joint-record three Brit Awards for Best International Male Solo Artist and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. West's first six solo albums—The College Dropout (2004), Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), 808s & Heartbreak (2008), My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010), and Yeezus (2013)—were included on Rolling Stone's 2020 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list with the same publication naming him one of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time. He also released the collaborative albums Watch the Throne (2011) with Jay-Z and Kids See Ghosts (2018) with Kid Cudi. West holds the joint record (with Bob Dylan) for most albums (4) topping the annual Pazz & Jop critic poll. Time named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2005 and 2015. As a fashion designer, he has collaborated with Nike, Inc., Louis Vuitton, Gap Inc., and A.P.C. on clothing and footwear and led the Yeezy collaboration with Adidas. West's outspoken views have received significant media coverage. He has been a frequent source of controversy due to his conduct on social media and at awards shows and public settings, as well as his comments on the music and fashion industries, U.S. politics, race, and slavery. His Christian faith, high-profile marriage to Kim Kardashian, and mental health have also been topics of media attention. In 2020, West launched an unsuccessful independent presidential campaign which advocated for a consistent life ethic. In October 2022, he was widely condemned and lost many sponsors and partnerships—including his collaborations with Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga—after making a series of antisemitic statements, including denying the Holocaust. - Wikipedia Ty Dolla $ign When charting the intertwined evolutions of R&B and hip-hop over the 2010s, there’s a simple rule: Follow the money, or, rather, the Dolla $ign. Born in L.A. in 1982, Tyrone Griffin Jr.—a.k.a. Ty Dolla $ign—was blessed early on with an eclectic skill set that made him more than just another aspiring MC. As the son of a musician (his father played with ’80s funk legends Lakeside of “Fantastic Voyage” fame), Ty was already a seasoned multi-instrumentalist and producer when he scored his first success providing the throwback-soul hook and dusty-vinyl groove to YG’s 2010 hit “Toot It and Boot It.” Alongside the L.A. rapper, Ty began drifting toward the more minimalist sound of the West Coast’s burgeoning ratchet movement; he recorded his 2014 solo debut, Beach House, with the genre’s architect, DJ Mustard, who delivered his signature synth spikes and ice-picked drum-machine beats on cool club jams like “Paranoid” and “Oh Nah.” But while Ty can adopt the staccato flow and salacious storytelling of a rugged MC, there is a sensitivity and smoothness to his delivery that keeps him rooted in R&B. “I feel like there’s not one Ty Dolla $ign song that you could name where I’m just doing a full-on rap,” he told Apple Music. “I don’t rap—I sing.” Fitting for an artist who’s equally at home trading bars with Nicki Minaj, guesting with Nick Jonas, and crafting choruses for blink-182’s Travis Barker, Ty Dolla $ign would land his first No. 1 single by teaming up with the veritable poster boy for post-internet genre fluidity: Post Malone. On their 2018 chill-hop smash, “Psycho,” Ty sings, “This ain’t happen overnight/No, these diamonds real bright”—a victory-lap address from an artist who spent a decade putting in the work and is now reaping the rewards. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History ¥$ 2024 05 CARNIVAL (¥$, Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign feat. August 9, 20242 yr Author  Missed the top 40 this week? Mimi Webb Erase You 2nd single from forthcoming studio album Released: 2nd August 2024 Label: Epic Records Video 1MZSrayutlQ Biography Mimi Webb projects a voice as magnetic, massive, and magical as her personality. Originally hailing from the UK town of Canterbury, the pop singer and songwriter turns up the volume on every emotion with skyscraping runs and open-heart honesty. Inspired by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Emelie Sandé, and Sam Smith, she started writing songs of her own at 13-years-old in diaries before eventually learning guitar. Three years later, she attended the prestigious BIMM [british Institute of Modern Music]. In 2019, she inked a deal with Epic Records, followed by the release of her debut single “Before I Go” in 2020. In a whirlwind two years, Mimi released her debut EP Seven Shades of Heartbreak (October 2021), amassed an international following with multiple hit tracks such as “House on Fire,” and “Good Without,” and became the first British female artist, since Dua Lipa in 2017, to land two singles in the UK Top 15 before her debut album. She has surpassed 730 million global streams to date and toured across the world. Mimi has garnered critical acclaim from the likes of British Vogue, Rolling Stone, Harper’s BAZAAR, Billboard, and CLASH, and performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and ELLEN. August 9, 20242 yr I feel like this chart could epitomise brat summer with Charli, Billie, Sabrina and Chappell all top 3 and Chappell and Charli dominating in the albums. Hoping JADE can remain top 20! My exact thoughts :cheeseblock:
August 9, 20242 yr Did we ever find out that if Charli gets a second #1 today, would it be the biggest gap between a first UK #1 and a second one? I'm guessing yes but would love some confirmation on this?
August 9, 20242 yr Excited for Hanumankind! Intrigued to see if Chase & Status will already debut today. 👀
August 9, 20242 yr Rooting for Charli domination also 💚 + Chappell would be a fab #1 in the albums. Top 3 favourites in each retro chart: 2023 01. Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana 02. Billie Eilish - What Was I Made For? 03. Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer Taylor the one change since last week. 'Cruel Summer' was initially my second favourite from Lover behind 'The Man' and is still right up there, glad it eventually became the biggest song from the album. Shall be quite special to hear it in a stadium next week providing her London dates are still good to go. 2019 01. Billie Eilish - bad guy 02. AJ Tracey - Ladbroke Grove 03. Dominic Fike - 3 Nights '3 Nights' sneaking in this week. It was mad to see Dominic Fike suddenly blowing up after knowing him from BROCKHAMPTON's YouTube channel. 2014 01. ZHU - Faded 02. Ella Henderson - Ghost 03. George Ezra - Budapest No change since last week but 'Boom Clap' is a good addition to the top 10. 2009 01. Lady Gaga - Paparazzi 02. Ian Carey Project - Get Shaky 03. Beyoncé - Sweet Dreams 'Get Shaky' the one change here... not heard it in ages so will have to rectify that! 2004 01. Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme 02. Avril Lavigne - My Happy Ending 03. Rachel Stevens - Some Girls 'My Happy Ending' is my favourite Avril single, great newbie this week  1999 01. Basement Jaxx - Rendez-vu 02. DJ Jurgen presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone 03. Eminem - Guilty Conscience (feat. Dr. Dre) 'Rendez-vu' is an absolute banger but an unexpected highest peaker for Basement Jaxx. Eminem in the top 10 here and still flying high in the charts 25 years later. 1994 01. Warren G - Regulate (feat. Nate Dogg) 02. Let Loose - Crazy For You 03. DJ Miko - What's Up I'm not a massive fan of the original 'What's Up' but the dance version grew on me as it was used at my exercise classes a lot
August 9, 20242 yr Did we ever find out that if Charli gets a second #1 today, would it be the biggest gap between a first UK #1 and a second one? I'm guessing yes but would love some confirmation on this? I can’t think of anyone besides J.Lo but I think that was a 10 year gap. Edit: totally forgot her number one in between.
