November 21, 2024Nov 21 Sad to say I missed this tour in the end as wasn't free for London last night and just couldn't make the timing work for any of the other dates, with the travel involved. I think if they had played the whole album including Intimacy, When He's Not Around and No Good For Me (which are all essentials for me) I'd probably have pushed more to try and get to another date, but had read it was basically the selections from Talk On Corners that they usually play (and I've seen them three times before) plus Don't Say You Love Me so I did decide to leave it, as much as I love that song. The reviews from the tour look amazing though, and it's nice to see that they included a good spread of songs from across the other albums, including some of the trad Irish stuff. Ellis Island seems to be a staple now, and I'm glad White Light has become one too. As they seem to be full of confidence and have had a successful tour, hopefully it won't be too long before they tour again! Forgiven, Not Forgotten 30th would be ideal
November 21, 2024Nov 21 At The O2 tomorrow night so been playing my Corrs playlist on Spotify all day. Borrowed Heaven really was a slept on album I feel, so many missed single opportunities, specifically "Hideaway" and "Humdrum". Easily my second favourite albums of theirs after Talk On Corners, I suppose 2004 was kind of a strange time for them to return after a four year break and the charts were in a weird place. Summer Sunshine and Angel remain great singles, and I agree on choices for other singles, although my ultimate album track was Baby Be Brave, which I heard they play the intro of on tour before Only When I Sleep? On a separate note, I really need them to start putting their singles up digitally so we can have the b-sides. Being able to listen easily to Rainy Day, Remember, Miracle, Somebody Else's Boyfriend and What I Know would be a delight.
November 22, 2024Nov 22 I would love Remember and What I Know to appear Both objectively flimsy and throwaway, but they also couldn't sound more warm and 90's if they tried. ALBUM RANK 01. Talk On Corners 02. Forgiven Not Forgotten 03. White Light 04. In Blue - not bad in itself, but definitely the record that I think allowed people to mistake them for a shallow and manufactured pop band 05. Borrowed Heaven - some nice standout moments, but ultimately suffers for their recycling the same backing track for too many of the songs. Humdrum / Even If / Confidence For Quiet all bleed into one. 06. Home 07. Jupiter Calling - I've only kept two tracks on rotation (The Sun And The Moon is genuinely fab and deserves to be on a better album)
November 22, 2024Nov 22 Ever wondered what The Right Time would sound like if produced like a Gina G song? No? Here it is anyway: HX_BEMtLKAM This was on the 1997 vinyl but today is the first time I've heard it... Edited November 22, 2024Nov 22 by gooddelta
March 26Mar 26 Some of the previously vastly overpriced Corrs records have dropped in price on Amazon if anybody is still looking.White Light and Home a steal at little over £13, Borrowed Heaven and Jupiter Calling around £20, In Blue £32 and Talk On Corners still over £50 for some reason.
