It was a good game. Newcastle showed great charchter and spirit from coming back from behind twice. Spurs were pretty unlucky though to come out of the game with nothing.

They had almost their reserve team out there and still played us off the park, one of my most embarrassing days as a Spurs fan, total disgrace have lost all faith in Jol its time to bring in Sven at least he knows how to sort defences

Yes they are down to their bare bones amongst the squad. They still had some decent players playing though.

Would you really like to see Sven as gaffer? :o Spurs are just very inconsistent at the moment. There are loads of defences playing awful at the moment though, I mean just look at West Ham's yesterday.

Maybe my expectations are just higher because of last season lol I dunno but we have a much bigger budget than Bolton, Pompey, Everton etc and should be comfortably ahead of them but it is just not happening, we make the same old defensive mistakes again and again and again and just don't seem to learn from them, it is all the well playing pretty football but a strong defence is far more important, I would swap Jol for someone like Sven or Fat Sam as they both believe in strong disciplined defence even if it means the attacking play is not as exciting

Well tbh if I were a Spurs fan i'd rather stick with Jol than go for Fat Sam or Sven. I can't imagine how boring it must be to go and watch Bolton play week in week out when they generally just play the long ball technique. Sure its effective but its not very exciting like Arsenal's style of play for example, and well with Sven the chances are he'd change from a team with European ambitions to a team who finishes mid-table every season.

The most defensive minded manager in the premiership is probably Mourinho but while Chelsea play very defensive minded football and generally sneak a 1-0 or 2-1 win except against dire sides it is effective points wise albeit not pretty to watch, as a Spurs fan I would rather get 3 points by scoring a 89th min 1-0 winner than I would 0 points in a 3-2 or 4-3 defeat, our defence is simply not strong enough

I don't like teams that play that way in where they play a defensive game and go for the 1-0 result. Tbh I don't mind seeing my team lose as long as they've played well and the game has being exciting, as the performance is something to build on even if its a tad annoying that you should of won or got a point.

The reason you're not ahead of Bolton or Portsmouth is that they have Allardyce and Redknapp - easily the best two managers in the Premiership who's names aren't Alex or Arsene.

We have still spent much more than Arsenal over the last few years and there is no return for it, our net spend compared with Arsenal over the last 5 years is something like £32m but Arsenal have a load of brilliant youngsters as the midweek game showed whereas we have been buying dross, the blame there lies with the managers, Wenger can spot talent a mile off and Jol has not that gift

I agree there fully, brilliant managers would be happy with either at Spurs

As a manager I would put Jol around the level of Coleman, Pardew, Hughes etc

Chelsea won Wigan which is good. few more wins then they will beat Man U to the top. :D
