ULTIMATE DANCE VI • THE GRANDE FINALE RESULTS

We are here at Club Bizarre where tonight we launch the 6th instalment of Ultimate Dance, a night of unforgettable club anthems - a mix of big beats, pulsing synths, power vocals and mesmerising melodies.
And for one night only, the clubbers are the DJs. Yes, the tracklist is chosen by you! Over the next few weeks we'll be voting in the search for Buzzjack's Ultimate Dance anthems.
Currently the champion is Robert Miles with the iconic 90s anthem 'Children' but no song has ever won twice yet...

Here's a reminder of the previous winners and runners-up, and unlike Record of the Decade we have had a new winner each year. Could we keep that up this year?

2013: 1. N-Trance feat. Kelly Llorenna - Set You Free / 2. DJ Jurgen presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone / 3. DJ Sammy & Yanou feat. Do - Heaven
2014: 1. Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris - We Found Love / 2. DJ Jurgen presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone / 3. Roger Sanchez - Another Chance
2015: 1. DJ Sammy & Yanou feat. Do - Heaven / 2. Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris - We Found Love / 3. Darude - Sandstorm
2016: 1. Faithless - Insomnia / 2. Darude - Sandstorm / 3. Underworld - Born Slippy NUXX
2019: 1. Robert Miles - Children / 2. Underworld - Born Slippy NUXX / 3. Darude - Sandstorm

#91-100

91 72 Avicii (feat Simon Aldred) - Waiting For Love | 216-164-x-91-

92 69 Sash! - Encore Une Fois | 42-x-112-63-92-

93 67 Wilkinson (feat. Becky Hill) - Afterglow  | 93-

94 58 Calvin Harris - Acceptable In the 80s | 112-x-x-x-94-

95 56 Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At? | 231-145-95-

96 55 Beats International (feat. Lindy Layton) - Dub Be Good To Me | 178-x-109-96-

97 50 Faithless - We Come 1 | 126-97-

98 46 Ian Van Dahl - Castles In The Sky | 33-21-23-40-53-98-

99 43 LF SYSTEM - Afraid To Feel | 99-

100 35 Binary Finary - 1998 | 100-

Finishing at the very bottom of the scoreboard we have Binary Finary's 1998 trance hit titled after the very year of its release. The song was later re-released the following year as '1999'.

The only song from the current decade to feature is next, from noted one-hit wonders LF System whose track spent 8 weeks at UK #1 but their follow ups made very little impression. Perhaps a future classic and one to watch rise up the ranks over time?

More trance numbers from Ian Van Dahl (reaching a new low), Faithless and Sash! - 'Encore Une Fois' is no longer the forum favourite for the latter. Faithless formerly won with 'Insomnia' so they could very well be in contention again.

Avicii's done rather well this year achieving four songs in the top 100, the first of these to fall is 'Waiting For Love' which led his 2015 album Stories. Another big 2010s hit from Wilkinson features (for the first time), also the only song here to feature Becky Hill's vocal - the song of course marked the first time we heard her sing on a major hit. Calvin Harris also has four songs featuring in the top 100, his debut hit 'Acceptable In The 80s' is still fairly well regarded here and is the first of these.

The Norman Cook led group Beats International are here with early 90s #1 'Dub Be Good To Me'. We'll see two more from Cook later on. Two tracks from Basement Jaxx made it in, the first of these is the Gary Numan sampling 'Where's Your Head At' a big early 00s hit for them.

#81-90

81 85 Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee) | 71-37-83-81-

82 79 Otto Knows - Million Voices | 71-82-

83 79 Gareth Emery & STANDERWICK (feat. HALIENE) - Saving Light | 83-

84 78 Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers) - Get Lucky | 19-37-40-94-x-84-

85 78 Tove Lo (feat Hippie Sabotage) - Stay High (Habits Remix) | 69-66-146-85-

86 75 Basement Jaxx - Red Alert | 84-x-228-203-86-

87 74 Tori Amos - Professional Widow (Armand Van Helden Remix) | 60-161-138-60-87-

88 73 Disclosure (feat Sam Smith) - Latch | 21-17-52-70-75-88-

89 73 Mason vs Princess Superstar - Perfect (Exceeder) | 50-97-157-101-82-89-

90 73 System F - Out Of The Blue | 166-90-

Another late 90s trance instrumental that scraped through to the final from System F rounds out this section, he is of course the alias of Ferry Corsten who will be making another appearance further along. Mason's one and only hit 'Perfect' had a little chart revival this year although that only helps it so far.

A fair few from the 2010s here, firstly by sheer luck (and low voting numbers) Gareth Emery made it here with trance anthem 'Saving Light'. Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' somehow fell right off a cliff after a very good first few appearances here, bit of a shame really, but they do have more songs to come. Tove Lo's 'Stay High' seems to do rather well in Record of the Decade but not so much here. Disclosure's 'Latch' reaches a new low in the rankings. Otto Knows is also here with festival house anthem 'Million Voices'.

David Guetta's version may not have made it through but we do get the original 'Blue' from Eiffel 65 remaining stable in the rankings. Basement Jaxx have both their songs out in the bottom 20 with 'Red Alert' just falling short of a new peak. Tori Amos' unlikely dance smash is also featured, thanks to Armand who has another song himself yet to appear.

88 73 Disclosure (feat Sam Smith) - Latch | 21-17-52-70-75-88-

89 73 Mason vs Princess Superstar - Perfect (Exceeder) | 50-97-157-101-82-89-

Mistakes surely?? :o

Great debut for Saving Light :cheer:
No more results anymore? :P

#71-80

71 102 Chase & Status (feat Liam Bailey) - Blind Faith | 42-x-107-44-x-71

72 102 Nero - Guilt | 91-x-x-98-36-72

73 102 Clean Bandit (feat Zara Larsson) - Symphony | 68-73

74 99 N-Trance (feat Kelly Llorenna) - Set You Free | 01-05-06-50-43-74

75 99 Corona - Rhythm Of The Night | 36-07-30-41-41-75

76 98 Pendulum - Propane Nightmares | 68-86-92-76

77 97 Martin Solveig & Dragonette - Hello | 58-60-111-197-77

78 91 Utah Saints - Something Good '08 | 56-x-x-36-200-78

79 87 The Prodigy - No Good (Start The Dance) | 58-34-x-54-33-79

80 86 Skrillex (feat. Sirah) – Bangarang | 199-x-80

Skrillex makes an appearance with 'Bangarang' which was his biggest hit of the first couple of years of his breakout - only to be outdone commercially when he started producing with Justin Bieber.

The Prodigy have a number of appearances here and one of their best remembered of their early work 'No Good' is up next.

Utah Saints' biggest 90s hit was remixed for 2008 and it remains this version that is more popular.

Martin Solveig's most loved track here remains Hello which was his first properly big UK hit, it also served as the biggest hit for Scandi act Dragonette.

Pendulum put drum n bass in the chart before its peak era back in 2008 with 'Propane Nightmares' which remains their most-liked hit here.

Corona's biggest hit and one of the most remembered dance songs of the 90s, 'Rhythm' takes a bit of a hit this time around having once been a top 10 finisher.

N-Trance also have lost a fair bit of support over the years - having won the first edition of the contest they now sit at #74.

Clean Bandit hold up well over the past five years since the last contest, 'Symphony' remains a staple of Record of the Decade and also sits comfortably in this rundown.

Nero sadly drop off a fair bit with 'Guilt' - the track remains their biggest here. Nero put out a new album this year though none of the tracks on it are likely to contend in future.

An act who have maintained a bit more relevance - Chase & Status finish a place ahead with 'Blind Faith' which was their biggest hit prior to their recent comeback.

62 110 Livin' Joy - Dreamer | 38-22-115-30-15-62

63 108 Armand Van Helden (feat Duane Harden) - You Don't Know Me | 178-123-63

64 107 Eric Prydz - Call On Me | 14-41-43-46-64

65 107 Porter Robinson (feat Heather Bright) - Language | 100-x-53-126-37-65

66 106 The Chemical Brothers (feat Q-Tip) - Galvanize | 37-31-56-66

67 106 Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar | 54-x-191-x-150-67

68 104 Delerium (feat Sarah McLachlan) - Silence | 186-35-68

69 104 Spiller (feat Sophie Ellis Bextor) - Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) | 08-19-x-64-180-69

70 103 PPK - Resurection | 45-x-x-110-31-70

One of the best trance classics of all time at #70 from Russian one hit wonder production group PPK sadly dropping a fair bit. Some more great trance anthems from Delerium and Energy 52 also take space in this section.

The chart revival for Sophie's biggest hit 'Murder' assists her second-biggest 'Groovejet' up the rankings here albeit far from the top 10 position it held over a decade ago. One of the biggest hits for Chemical Brothers and one of the very best dance/rap combos 'Galvanize' is next up.

Porter Robinson's big mainstream breakthrough came with one of the defining golden era of EDM anthems 'Language' which departs the top 40.

'Call On Me' was one of the biggest dance hits of the 00s and is the only rep here for Eric Prydz as sadly 'Pjanoo' missed the cut. The better-rated of two AvH 90s anthems here tops out at #63 joined by two other #1 hits of the 90s from Livin Joy and Olive.

#51-60

51 126 Culture Beat - Mr Vain | 120-x-x-34-51

52 122 Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400 | 164-74-114-52

53 121 Felix - Don't You Want Me | 74-184-123-118-53

54 117 Tomcraft - Loneliness | 41-66-122-121-54-54

55 117 Sonique - It Feels So Good | 21-34-106-55

56 116 The Prodigy - Breathe | 130-72-90-95-56

57 114 Lasgo - Something | 84-93-x-55-55-57

58 113 Rui Da Silva (feat Cassandra) - Touch Me | 48-50-16-06-58

59 111 DNA (feat Suzanne Vega) - Tom's Diner | 126-153-110-59

60 111 Avicii (feat Dan Tyminksi) - Hey Brother | 118-136-170-102-60

The third-highest appearance for Avicii here and the top-rated from his debut album, 'Hey Brother' eventually climbed into the top 100 rankings this year. It's the only song from the 2010s in this section however as the classics keep on dropping.

An early 90s dance remix of Suzanne Vega giving her biggest hit also makes a belated top 100 appearance here. Rui Da Silva fared very well five years ago but seems to have lost quite a chunk of his fanbase as 'Touch Me' reaches a new low in the rankings. He is joined by other big trance one hit wonder DJs Zombie Nation and Tomcraft.

Lasgo remain stable with their early 00s eurodance hit and for earlier eurodance we have Culture Beat and Felix. Sonique takes a rebound with her biggest hit which she recently re-recorded for a tech house remake by Matt Sassari/Hugel. The Prodigy remain popular as ever here and 'Breathe' ends up their third-biggest on the list.

#41-50

41 140 The Prodigy - Firestarter | 87-99-26-09-16-41

42 136 Daft Punk - Around The World | 28-125-x-136-61-42

43 136 Rudimental (feat John Newman) - Feel The Love | 12-18-42-57-85-43

44 134 Galantis - Runaway (U & I) | 55-33-97-44

45 133 The Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl | 55-x-34-48-18-45

46 133 Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone | 47-35-x-125-24-46

47 132 Black Box - Ride On Time | 87-96-47

48 132 Bicep - Glue | 48

49 128 O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei | 49

50 128 Adamski (feat Seal) - Killer | 77-x-x-187-50

One of the very early 90s dance hits and launch of Seal's career 'Killer' commences the upper half of the rundown. Finishing just above is one of the last #1s of the 80s from Black Box which brought Italo-house mainstream.

Romanian dance group O-Zone hadn't been considered for inclusion here before but their novelty smash is now at #49. Meanwhile one of the more recent additions comes from Bicep with their biggest hit 'Glue', not a personal favourite of mine but good to see some new blood in here.

The third-highest Calvin Harris track, 'I'm Not Alone' is not the earliest of his inclusions though still came before his commercial peak era.

'Hey Boy Hey Girl' is once more the top rated track from the ChemBros albeit dropping a fair amount this time. Their counterparts The Prodigy likewise are down with 'Firestarter' - no longer their top entry here. Daft Punk's second of four here, 'Around the World' improves on its peak and is the only track here of their 90s output. Two big 2010s hits also improve a fair bit from Galantis and Rudimental.

Oh this is back :cheer:

O-Zone far too low!

The “set you free” drop off is interesting to see, always thought of it as over rated.

#31-40

31 162 Sash! (feat Rodriguez) - Ecuador | 61-x-x-119-31

32 159 Everything But The Girl - Missing (Todd Terry Remix) | 26-24-04-14-32

33 154 Fatboy Slim - Right Here Right Now | 77-x-32-12-49-33

34 154 Nero - Promises | 123-117-182-72-34

35 154 Kungs vs Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl | 35-99-35

36 151 Daft Punk - Digital Love | 47-151-116-147-36

37 149 Calvin Harris & Alesso (feat Hurts) - Under Control  | 195-66-37

38 144 2 Unlimited - No Limit | 115-x-x-113-38

39 143 Cascada - Everytime We Touch | 14-24-19-106-80-39

40 142 Donna Summer - I Feel Love | 25-46-x-84-x-40

The oldest song in the rundown and arguably the first hit that could be described as EDM, Donna Summer is back in the top 40 with Giorgio Moroder produced 'I Feel Love'. Cascada brings clubland-eurodance in with their breakthrough hit 'Everytime We Touch', one of the most remembered tracks of its style. More old school eurodance next in from 2 Unlimited who see a big surge in support for their biggest hit 'No Limit'. A bit of a shock here for Calvin Harris' 'Under Control' his second highest track here, he has done much better for me. Daft Punk rebound a lot with one of their classics 'Digital Love', one of two in the top 40 from their 2001 album 'Discovery'.

Kungs rebounds back to #35 with ultimate summer anthem 'This Girl', still one of the best of the 2010s. Nero have a new track of choice this time with 'Promises' rising above 'Guilt' to #34. A handful of 90s classics just above with Fatboy Slim's breakbeat anthem 'Right Here Right Now' followed by the classy remix version of 'Missing' for EBTG and holiday anthem 'Ecuador' which is the favourite for Sash!.

#21-30

21 185 Daft Punk - One More Time | 22-25-51-18-13-21

22 182 Avicii (feat Etta James) - Levels | 44-45-84-32-23-22

23 182 Alan Walker (feat Iselin Solheim) - Faded | 26-09-23

24 181 Snap! - Rhythm Is A Dancer | 09-15-08-14-20-24

25 178 Junior Senior – Move Your Feet | 10-x-25

26 169 Massive Attack - Teardrop | 82-22-x-26

27 164 The Prodigy - Out Of Space | 99-x-45-25-52-27

28 163 The KLF - Last Train To Trancentral | 149-x-x-195-28

29 162 Edward Maya (feat Vika Jigulina) - Stereo Love | 09-23-59-29

30 162 Avicii vs Nicky Romero (feat Noonie Bao) - I Could Be The One | 34-43-39-24-48-30

The legendary Avicii rebounds to #30 with 'I Could Be The One', with his 'Levels' also here at #22 - two of my ultimate favourites! Another classic of the 2010s 'Stereo Love' sees a rebound to #29 for the sole rep for Romania here from Edward Maya. Of course we also have Alan Walker's breakthrough hit here in 'Faded', the track was the biggest of the 2010s when this was last run but now drops to #23. The 90s tracks keep on dominating though. The KLF gain a ton of support this year for 'Last Train To Trancentral' entering the top 40 for the first time and they have another to come. The biggest for The Prodigy however is 'Out Of Space' another rave-adjacent track of the early 90s. Massive Attack have two big'uns here the first of these being 'Teardrop' coming back. Eurodance's biggest hit of the early 90s from Snap! we also have continuing to do well here as ever. Being remembered once again we have Junior Senior who return with an entry at #25 with their one hit wonder anthem 'Move Your Feet'. Whilst the classic Daft Punk hit 'One More Time' gives them their biggest appearance.

12 218 Fragma (feat Coco) - Toca's Miracle | 28-20-07-21-12

13 205 The KLF (feat Tammy Wynette) - Justified And Ancient | 141-13

14 200 Enigma - Sadeness (Part I) | 22-14

15 197 ATB - 9PM (Till I Come) | 23-16-33-11-12-15

16 194 Dario G - Sunchyme | 26-44-12-28-11-16

17 193 David Guetta (feat Sia) - Titanium | 06-04-11-38-44-17

18 193 Chicane (feat Maire Brennan) - Saltwater | 27-18

19 191 Conershop - Brimful Of Asha (Norman Cook Remix) | 206-232-170-19

20 189 Rihanna (feat Calvin Harris) - We Found Love | 01-02-61-50-20

Starting off the top 20 with former winner 'We Found Love' which is the biggest one here for Calvin Harris and has a nice big rebound here. Another big track of the early 2010s 'Titanium' we also see rebound into the top 20 at #17. A random massive boost for Cornershop at #19 for another big #1 of the 90s assisted by Norman Cook. At #18 a proper trance classic and the biggest for Chicane it is 'Saltwater' which recently found favour here as it only made its first appearance the last time this was ran. Two other massive songs of the late 90s at #15-16; ATB's breakthrough hit '9PM' along with the now late Dario G with his huge summer anthem 'Sunchyme'. Another song that more recently found a fanbase here it is the early 90s #1 from Enigma 'Sadness' which was one of the biggest downtempo electronica hits of the time. The KLF's biggest track here and one that surprisingly hasn't ever been in the top 100 before 'Justified and Ancient' follows their other appearance to have a huge boost this year. Two more big trance tracks just outside the top 10 we have Fragma's breakthrough 'Toca's Miracle' at #12 and the former winning track from Faithless 'Insomnia' takes a bit of a hit down to #11.

#01-10

10 219 Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You | 29-27-08-29-10

Stardust were the one-time project formed by Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk with other French DJ Alan Braxe and vocalist Benjamin Diamond although one song was all they needed to have a legacy of having one of the all-time highest regarded dance hits - they now return to the top 10 of this ranking.

9 226 William Orbit - Barbers Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix) | 35-72-x-82-08-09

William Orbit had just famously worked with Madonna when one of his earlier releases got a remix from one of trance's biggest names in Ferry Corsten it being a reinterpretation of the Samuel Barber piece. A later version by Tiësto ended up becoming even more popular however this version remains preferred here and finishes top 10 again five years on.

8 240 Swedish House Mafia (feat John Martin) - Don't You Worry Child | 20-12-06-27-25-08

Swedish House Mafia put this out as their last release back in 2012 before taking a lengthy hiatus however it naturally ended up being their biggest hit and one of the defining anthems of 2010s festival house. It rounds out as the top performing track of the decade.

7 249 Roger Sanchez - Another Chance | 17-03-59-17-17-07

Remaining popular as ever this was by some distance the most notable hit for DJ Roger Sanchez who put out this classic of house music in 2001 having taken a sample from the band Toto.

6 252 Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy | 13-x-28-157-07-06

Massive Attack put this out in 1991 becoming one of the first and biggest of the trip hop sub-genre. It was heavily assisted by a string arrangement and guest vocals by Shara Nelson and there hasn't been a big hit quite like it in dance ever since.

5 281 Robert Miles - Children | 11-09-04-05-01-05

Getting into the obvious big hitters now, indeed there's no surprises in this top five even five years on from the last ranking. However Robert Miles is no longer at the very top with 1995 piano trance classic 'Children' which remains heavily sampled during this decade.

4 285 Darude - Sandstorm | 04-10-03-02-03-04

Yet to ever depart the all-time top 10 however still no win for Darude. Sandstorm was released in late 1999 in his home country of Finland before smashing the rest of the world the following year. Its title came from the display of the Roland JP-8080 synth used to create the song.

3 313 DJ Jurgen presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone | 02-02-10-06-10-03

Also yet to ever be crowned the best dance song of all time however climbing back into the top three we have 'Better Off Alone' which was the debut release by dance project Alice Deejay, originally recorded by DJ Jurgen as an instrumental in 1997 before being rejigged the following year. Members of Alice Deejay would later form the project Dash Berlin.

2 350 New Order - Blue Monday | 69-110-20-05-02

One of the very first songs that could be described as "EDM", however it also remains one of the highest-regarded here now climbing into 2nd place. New Order first released this in 1983 and it soon grew into one of the decade's biggest hits ultimately selling 1 million and was one of the first to be so heavily reliant on synths and other then-new technology.

1 387 Underworld - Born Slippy NUXX | 07-08-13-03-02-01

However your favourite dance song EVER (for the next 5 years probably) comes from Underworld who have now eventually climbed to #1 in this list. The song was released in 1995 as a B-side to little success however went to #2 the following year after being used in the film Trainspotting. Ever since it has been highly regarded as certainly one of the most unique dance hits and holds up amazingly to this day.

(phew we made it, thanks for putting up with all the delays x)

Excellent top 10, classic after classic with SHM's the only one I'm not too fussed about, and a pleasing 3-2-1 ascent for 'Born Slippy' - thanks for running this!
