November 15, 2024Nov 15 They definitely need less intervention next time! Back to basics would be great. This cast was so good and naturally brought a lot of discord, conflict and drama, so it didn’t need it! Like I said I did dip in and out, Ali’s Palestine shirt being edited out, and truthfully this thread at times, soured it for me and I was at a point I didn’t even want to give ITV the views, but the vault twist thing for the final week was absolutely ridiculous and I didn’t like that every round of nominations was played with due to the HOH thing and save and replace. I think if they’re going to do that they need to go the full hog with it, maybe have the HOH nominate and the public vote or even fully a US format but maybe that’s just for a mini spin off series or something. I just don’t like them meddling with bits and pieces but not committing to the game side of it. This!
November 16, 2024Nov 16 L&L was terrible for many reasons - dragging up old stuff really took the shine off the whole experience for all the housemates.
November 16, 2024Nov 16 Agree. It just created a bad atmosphere. The drama was done. Not a fan of Ali but her interview was more a grilling than a celebration.
November 16, 2024Nov 16 One of the best winners ever, congrsts Ali, the gang may have won the race but thankfully lost the war.
November 16, 2024Nov 16 I do feel like the series could have benefited from being a couple weeks longer, it felt like a lot of underlying tension was just coming to surface
November 16, 2024Nov 16 What a perfect end to (imo) one of the best series of Big Brother ever! The Red Witch, Neurodivergent Queen deserved the crown! Dare I say she is my favourite BB winner ever! Surpassing Dogface from BB10 and maybe even Paras from BBCAN6 and Rachel from BB US13. :o  I hope we see more of her and Lily even if they just become mainstays on BB Late & Live over future series. Marcello coming second is quite disgusting though and it's concerning he managed to attract more votes than Emma and Hanah (as much as I dislike the latter's attitude). His face throughout the whole of yesterday's L&L was very satisfying to see. Interesting also that Ali said none of the HMs thought their final night would be aired - which makes me think Marcello thought his treatment towards Ali at the dinner table would go unnoticed. The crowd rightfully booing him throughout the final was even more satisfying. And the chants for Ali throughout. Good really did prevail in the end. AJ and Will were definitely feeding the drama during L&L but I was kind of here for it. :kink: I think it is only fair the HMs get challenged and called out on their behaviour once they leave. Very pleased Segun was called out for him pretending the 'red witch' comment was a joke, and even once the clip was shown in the studio, he still couldn't admit he meant it seriously. Jesus be offenced indeed. I'd say the best things about this series: casting, tasks, HOH/competitive element, not sanitising the cast/show too much (a nod to the channel 4 days) Areas of improvement: no vault twists (lowest vote-getter should've been evicted), no giving away prize money, a longer series (8-10 weeks), decent 24 hour livestream (unless there's a twist the producers want to keep secret until broadcast), have a Saturday show, give the evicted HMs a walkout during the final like in the channel 4 era, move the final so it doesn't clash with Children in Need lol.
November 16, 2024Nov 16 I think catch up will be a lot more due to being a Friday and clashing with CIN.
November 16, 2024Nov 16 I always loved the way the original BB had a better ending such as showing the empty house with the lights being turned off room by room as the voices of the housemates could be heard in the background, always made me quite emotional. And small things like the winner not leaving but the presenter going into bring them out as they are the winner!

Great Post and I fully agree with all your points.

And small things like the winner not leaving but the presenter going into bring them out as they are the winner! Oh man, that ENDED me back in the day. I remember finding it SO legitimately sad seeing the lights turning off and listening to the iconic lines from housemates after spending over 3 months with them on my TV on a nightly basis.
November 17, 2024Nov 17 I have so many mixed feelings, overall I hated this season and was hoping it would be the last season on ITV. I dipped out mid-season, took a break, and returned to having this on the background while doing other things. Ali was a big reason that I had to turn this off, such a complex character but the mixture of her behavior and the edit she was getting was really triggering for me. I was really put off on how she went after Khaled and some of the comments she made. But at times she was absolutely brilliant. I was constantly going in circles with her, she deserved her win for sure, but not high up on any list for me sadly. Marcello: He was far from the worst BBUK male we've ever had. He would fit right in on BBUK3 with some of his opinions. I think he's genuinely a good guy, just a bit backward on a lot of things. Hanah: Delivered a BRAT Autumn! Her fight with Martha was just ick. Completely unaccountable and took the lowest road possible. Unpleasant for 80% of the season. Khaled: I find it odd he was evicted at the height of his popularity, but there really wasn't much there for me to throw support behind except for the way he was treated at times. Lily: I just don't get the support, there were a few freckles of brilliance here and there but for me it never outweighed how annoying she was and how little she contributed to the emotional development of the season. Dean/Martha: I did like their evictions back to back. They went to contributing absolutely nothing, to showing their true colours, to being evicted. We also have Baked Potato and Nathan. I felt bad for BP and the Eviction right before she left. This audience is so jankey sometimes I swear. She didn't deserve the reception she got. I do get a laugh that she was evicted as Baked Potato however  Nathan was a complete fraud most of the season, it was so easy to see through his BS. However, I do think there were genuine feelings between him and BP. The HOH Twist although at times did save the season and give us a bit of drama felt unfair at times. This just didn't seem like the right group to deliver this twist to. Just not the season for me sadly. The ending of Marcello and Ali did feel like Good versus Evil. I’m happy Ali won, but I’m happy this season is over. Edited November 17, 2024Nov 17 by Aaron.
November 17, 2024Nov 17 Agree totally regarding your Ali comments, yes she was a great housemate but a lot of things she did were wrong especially towards Khaled in week one. She was so polarising, her lovers LOVED her and her haters hated her. I do think some of the things Marcello said on the final super night were correct though, albeit maybe in a wrong way of articulating it, such as who does she think she is undermining someone’s character like she did with Khaled. November 17, 2024Nov 17 Hopefully that the 25th anniversary series of Big Brother will be an summer series and is longer than the recent series. Less meddling, twists and normal nominations process.
November 17, 2024Nov 17 Oh yes, it's the 25th anniversary next year! :o They should definitely make it eventful since BB wasn't around during its 20th birthday. They should start the next series in mid-late August and run it to mid November again - that's a decent 12 week run just like the glory days.
November 17, 2024Nov 17 Many thanks to Calum, Aaron for the threads and everyone who contributed throughout the series.
November 18, 2024Nov 18 I stand by saying that other than Marcello, Emma was the worst in the house. Overly rehearsed one liners, constantly playing to the cameras, so two faced and spewed such nasty vitriol against Lily behind her back. Didn't like her from day dot, miserable old witch.
