With almost 60 days at #1 on the Global Spotify chart, 2x platinum in the US, heading towards being the fastest ever song to reach 1 billion streams and countless more accolades, it is safe to say that Die With A Smile is one of the biggest songs of the year (or past few years)... A collaboration between Gaga and Bruno, but who do you think is more responsible for the song's success: Bruno or Gaga - or both of them together?

Both, but to dig a bit deeper, Bruno Mars has provided the huge streaming numbers in Far East (his mother is from the Philippines) which is part of the reason why it is still #1 on Spotify. However, Gaga has been essential part of making it viral and, like Shallow and ARUTW have demonstrated, at times no one can sell a mighty ballad better than she can.

I’d say also both! I am a Gaga stan so I’d always be pro her but she’d have definitely had writing and/or production involvement to release and push something like this. Obviously you can thank Bruno too but what other females could’ve done what Gaga did there’s a reason he wanted to work with her and the chemistry between them kinda adds to the overall appeal of the song. Gaga’s major collaborations (excluding Tony as I’m mainly going off original material here) almost always smash so she’s obviously a factor in getting something out of not just Bruno but say Ariana, Bradley Cooper, Beyoncé too. Gaga collabs are almost like an event as you can never factor what genre / theme etc they’re going to be.

But yeah I’d say for Die With A Smile it’s both of them to thank (and the fact the song itself is timeless and cross generational). It’s funny how a critique the Little Monsters (or some Little Monsters) had is that they felt the song was very much more Bruno but i could easily imagine both of them releasing it as a solo track like it’s not a million miles away from what’s on the A Star Is Born Soundtrack but also sounds like classic Bruno too. A way of playing to both of their strengths as vocalists for sure.

This is exactly my thought on the matter too. Bruno has brought a huge audience to the song and Gaga has brought a different audience and helped it go viral in those early days because her fans really engaged with the music video and its aesthetics. Both have contributed in different ways, with different audiences and that's ultimately led to the phenomenal success it has received.

Plus it's a very easy on the ears song and delivered with incredible conviction by both artists so it's a believable, timeless piece of music.
