The original 28 Days Later is one of my favourite films of all time. I enjoyed 28 Weeks Later a lot too, but obviously nowhere near as good as the sequel (although that opening sequence is 12/10).

The trailer dropped today and is trending and causing a huge social media buzz.

First part of a new trilogy with original duo behind the project. Obviously the original was Cillian Murphy's breakout role and the internet is losing their shiz at him appearing as a zombie, although I think it's clever marketing as no way they'd spoil that and I think he's meant to be the main character in the final film.

  • I wish I saw what everyone else does. This and the last one just haven't hit for me at ALL and I'm gutted tbh. As great as Ralph and Jack are (and they really are), I just think they've jumped the sha

This looks SOOOO good and I am so HYPED for it.

Gives me peak 'The Walking Dead' vibes and I'm here for that! I need to rewatch the other 2 but I remember really loving the first and enjoying the 2nd.

SO hyped to see this tomorrow. I assumed it'd have great reviews.

Looks like horror could be in for it's best year (at least critically) possibly ever?

Again I’d be jumping about to much for a cinema viewing lol. Class that Cillan has a cameo in it at least to link the films.

Liked the second film but didn’t love it, was a bit ott with zombies with lesser story line

Apparently, they’re doing a sequel next year which Cillian Murphy will be returning

The sequel comes out in January 2026 and there's a third one in the works (although not written yet or secured funding yet). From what Danny Boyle has teasted, Cilliam is back in the 2nd film at the end and plays a lead role in the third. Not too sure how much I believe him though.

I'm very much in the minority unfortunately. The first half is very much what I wanted/expected from it, but then it just goes into silly territory about half way through and becomes a bit of a mess tonally. Jodie Comer absolutely shines in it though (hardly surprising). She's great!

But unfortunately, it didn't do anything for me on the whole. I'm gutted I didn't connect as much with it as I would have liked to.

Will see over the next week but I’m hearing the second half is decisive! I guess it’s all a set up, but I feel the 1st film was also kind of like this as well. I’ve also heard the ending is abrupt!

I’m still really excited to see it. Think it makes sense why Sony have not financed a 3rd film yet, but suspect it will get the green light.

I absolutely loved it. I thought it was brilliant throughout, obviously the first half of the film is much like 28 Days Later and then it does shift. There were some minor plot points which I thought were bizarre and couldn't understand why they didn't do certain things, but then obviously I know why as there are two more films :D Spike was such a good character and this film felt like setting him up. The ending did feel a bit cheap and out of place.

I've rewatched 28 Days and 28 Weeks this weekend in anticipation of seeing this in the cinemas next weekend. Insanely hyped for it - the first two instalments remain incredible (awful acting from some of the cast aside).

The shots of abandoned London in the early parts of 28 Days are some of my favourite cinema moments ever. Chilling, especially because it was done in real time because the film lacked a big budget to actually close off parts of the city.

Saw this today and really enjoyed it. I didn't expect it to take the tonal direction it did, but I thought it worked well as a bit of a contrast to the brutality of the evil of man in the first two films, without spoiling anything, this one brought to mind the Wizard of Oz most closely! Of course, there was a lot of great action too, I really liked the train encounter with the infected and the corresponding images between the modern day cult and ancient roman images was well done. There was a hell of a lot of commentary they could've, ahem, sunk their teeth into in a post-Brexit/Covid Britain, but I like that they kept it nuanced.

The ending was certainly something, I suppose we'll have to see how the sequel turns out before we can say how effective it was (the person being evoked is certainly a choice and I'm really wondering how they'll frame that, surely for sinister reasons, I wanna say a bit more but I don't know how to use spoilers here x)

The camera work remains really great and love the iPhone stands they used to make the quick cuts, still very distinctive. Amazing soundtrack from Young Fathers too and was great to hear that classic East Hastings soundtrack from Godspeed You Black Emperor! <3

I actually loved the ending in its exaggerated silliness which also made it chilling.

The whole movie seemed like a fresh take on zombie genre and it was gripping the whole way through.

Cineworld and Odeon’s secret screamings both next Saturday are rated 18 so I guarantee it will be bone temple but doing that could dent the sales like it did with running man

Getting good critic and audience revies. Suspect this will have heavier legs than 28 Years Later but we'll see.

I'm sure I have read Sony greenlit the 3rd film in November and Garland is working on the script now. The challenge will just be getting everyone's schedule coordinated.

Going to see this on Sunday so I'll report back!

Go and see this - pure cinema.

Obviously helps if you have seen 28 Years Later, but you can also pick this up as a self contained horror film too. I will advise that spoilers are below so please do not read on if you don't want to know about the plot. I'll keep some parts vague though not to spoil key moments.

The juxtaposition between Kelson and Jimmy is amazing. I think Jimmy is definitely the most terrifying villain in the franchise and that opening scene along with the barn scene are absolutely terrifying. I was kind of surprised that he just took Spike on in the film, when Spike was clearly not up for the role and just wanted to leave.

I wasnt so sure they got the humanisation right of the infected in the first film, looking at you birth scene. But in this film, I think they got it so right. Was a little bit miffed with Samson and his dong just hanging out and getting high, but the "I don't have a ticket" moment was huge. They played it so well and was actually believeable. That scene along with the Kelson cinematic scene towards the end (everyone will know this) were certainly huge cinema moments. I certainly think the barn scene will linger long in my mind and suspect the pregant woman will either come across Spike again or Spike's dad on causeway island.

As for the ending, was a great way to piviot Cilliam Murphy back in so that he can be a part right at the start. Interested to see what happened to Hannah and Selena, especially since it looks like they never left where they settled at the end of 28 Days!

Yes, this was a really great film. I did enjoy the first one, but I did understand some of the criticisms with regards to tone and focus throughout, this one got it much more on point. One plot strand being a brutal and bloody exploration of the depravities of evil and also the loose nonsense that can arise from cults (I do gather the Saville look was meant to add to them being evil, although in the timeline of the films given the outbreak was in the 2000s, his crimes weren't widely known then so I'm wondering how they symbolised him given he wasn't that prominent in the 90s and they were also children of the Teletubbies...but that's just my mind picking at things x) and one being a rather beautiful exploration by Kelson with him bonding and treating the Alpha, it was really wonderfully done with his gradual transition and little hints like him initially seeing the human as an infected, eating berries, saying 'moon' and the train scene which felt like a brilliant, poetic ending to it. The conversation between lead Jimmy and Kelson was excellent too, felt like a real meeting of minds that was intense yet calm.

Asides though, it was still wonderfully brutal and yet very funny at the same time. The Iron Maiden scene is indeed fantastic, Ralph was having the absolute time of his life there x

Pleased to hear the third one has been greenlit, it looks like it can expand a lot on the themes of this one and with some original characters back as well. I did read this had underperformed a bit in it's opening weekend, but hopefully it can stabilise, especially as there is certainly viral potential with THAT scene!
