I did enjoy the first one, but I did understand some of the criticisms with regards to tone and focus throughout, this one got it much more on point. One plot strand being a brutal and bloody exploration of the depravities of evil and also the loose nonsense that can arise from cults (I do gather the Saville look was meant to add to them being evil, although in the timeline of the films given the outbreak was in the 2000s, his crimes weren't widely known then so I'm wondering how they symbolised him given he wasn't that prominent in the 90s and they were also children of the Teletubbies...but that's just my mind picking at things x) and one being a rather beautiful exploration by Kelson with him bonding and treating the Alpha, it was really wonderfully done with his gradual transition and little hints like him initially seeing the human as an infected, eating berries, saying 'moon' and the train scene which felt like a brilliant, poetic ending to it. The conversation between lead Jimmy and Kelson was excellent too, felt like a real meeting of minds that was intense yet calm.Asides though, it was still wonderfully brutal and yet very funny at the same time. The Iron Maiden scene is indeed fantastic, Ralph was having the absolute time of his life there xPleased to hear the third one has been greenlit, it looks like it can expand a lot on the themes of this one and with some original characters back as well. I did read this had underperformed a bit in it's opening weekend, but hopefully it can stabilise, especially as there is certainly viral potential with THAT scene!Yeah it is a shame it has underperformed so far. I'd like to think the good word of mouth might give it some legs, but maybe people who hated the ending of the first film didn't fancy this one.The first film was more of a coming of age and of love. But the only truly memorable scene was the causeway whereas this film there are plenty. This definitely felt more like the original 28 Days Later.
Sunday at 21:064 days Dare I say my favourite film in the 28 franchise? 28 Days is objectively a better film, largely because of what it meant for indie cinema and the horror genre as a whole but GOD this film was a ride.A truly phenomenal experience. Fiennes and O'Connell were electric throughout. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.I love how the trilogy has taken a swerve into the cult horror sub-genre, full on Wicker Man - obsessed. Excited for the next 28 Years film now, I assume it'll be back to the original film's vibe with Boyle at the helm. This has cemented the 28... franchise as one of my all-time favourite horror series now. Each film is different, adds something new and keeps you on your toes.I want to go full on SPOILER here but I will leave it until more people have seen it. EVERYONE GO WATCH
Monday at 02:244 days I wish I saw what everyone else does. This and the last one just haven't hit for me at ALL and I'm gutted tbh. As great as Ralph and Jack are (and they really are), I just think they've jumped the shark completely on what made the first 2 special to me.It's annoying me that I'm not getting the hype behind this but meh! I'm glad to see people are loving it.
Monday at 13:303 days Its interesting this is a box office flop pretty much everywhere but has one of the highest rated scores for a horror film. Good word of mouth is not translating to people going to see it.

Good word of mouth is not translating to people going to see it.Probably a mixture of bad marketing from Sony too. I can appreciate the first film was tonally jarring and people were expecting something slightly different. That said, imagine this will be sort of film that does ace numbers on streaming. We’ll see what happens. Probably helps there is the major Sony & Netflix licensing deal and you’ve got Cillian Murphy in the next film.
