I make Madonna's total 68 - or are you not counting re-releases?

Correct: no re-entries, re-releases or re-issues of the same song by the same artist.

Interesting list. I attempted to do something similar based on a points system (+20 points for every week at 1 and so on up to +1 for every week at 20) but saw Elvis' chart history and gave up  Strange to not see Ed Sheeran make the top 20 but I guess he doesn't have many albums

Ed Sheeran: 22nd - 8 44 52, Depeche Mode just ahead of him...

What are the numbers representing exactly? Weeks on the chart? Millions sold?

Simply the number of albums and singles which reached the UK Top 20 - nothing to do with weeks on the chart or sales.

Ah thanks, saves me a job :D Some names I definitely wouldn't have expected. By any chance could you reveal number 21 please? Would've just included stuff credited to "Cliff Richard And The Shadows" to Cliff by himself had I done this.

21. Rihanna 5,281.

I take the point about Cliff, which is why I always mention it. His combined totals would put him ahead of Elvis in total Top 20 entries and virtually tied with Ed Sheeran on points.

Simply the number of albums and singles which reached the UK Top 20 - nothing to do with weeks on the chart or sales.

Ah I see! That's really interesting actually!

Would you have credited Diana Ross with stuff credited to Diana Ross and the Supremes too? :P

Correct: no re-entries, re-releases or re-issues of the same song by the same artist.

So Elvis has achieved 81 top 20 singles even without all his 2000s re-releases? Didn't know that :o

i'm most shocked at Elvis having released 68 albums :D

No, in the same way I prefer not to credit Cliff with his Shadows collaborations. The Shadows were super successful in their own right and the Supremes continued to have hits after Diana Ross went solo.
