Laika Party is the one i like at the moment but i have intentionally held of listening more as i want to wait to see them all live, i see in the papers today they are saying samantha mumba is red hot favourite to win but i think thats purely down to that she is the name known the most from them all.

what do y'all see with laika party 😭😭😭
Laika Party as a song i like and sounds radio friendly but as it stands if i was given the task of putting a song through it would be Bobbi Arlo - Powerplay as i think it has potential to be really brought up a level if it got to eurovision but lets see how it comes across live.

I wish Ireland LAST in the semi :magic:

f***ing hell...

I think this was the best result for Ireland, Power Play wasn’t quite there in terms of performance/vocal as much as it’s an great song and My Way was giving 13th in the semi at best.

Laika Party is very MGP and that’s not a bad thing, you could easily see Lene Nystrom or Alexandra Joner singing it  I’m definitely here for it, a bop and it’s comfortably my fave selected so far.

I didn’t actually know until now that she’s the same Emmy of MGP Witch Woods fame, it is high camp that presumably an MGP reject comfortably smashed anything in their own NF and they will probably struggle to qualify

Love how the international contestant missed out on the 12 from the international jury whilst getting it from the public vote and national jury

Really hope this is another qualifier for them, even without Norway to support them through the semi-final. Instantly my favourite of the year so far as well (though maybe not by the end of the weekend if Malta decide to serve KANT)

I don't feel any of them were massive standouts but I think powerplay with eurovision treatment might have done something. Laika party I do like and feel it could qualify but flop in the final but for now I'd be happy just to see us qualify again.

Samantha Mumba really should have entered with something much much stronger as the song was totally forgettable.

Really good song Laika Party, presentation/costumes could do with some fine tuning but that can easily be fixed. Really sad story behind the song & how Emmy reminded us of how the little dog Laika that was sent to space & left to die there

I'm not very keen on this choice sadly. I like fun Europop generally (loved the studio of We Will Rave last year but not the live) but found this one quite annoying. The reception I've seen online from the general public (outside the fan community) is generally mixed to positive though and the feeling is that Ireland sent the best song/performance on the night.

To me it feels a bit like the product of asking AI 'make a song about Laika the space dog with production from 1997', but maybe its simplicity, retro vibe and innocence is its charm.

It could Q, it depends what else is in the semi with it, I'm sure by May it will be a more complete package and it's probably catchy enough for the televote to remember it, especially if it opens the semi. UK will donate a decent amount of points I'm sure. Some strong female pop in the second half of the semi could affect it though depending on what Finland, Malta and others go for. Maybe 7-12 area in the semi.

All six songs lacked something for me to make any of them a surefire qualifer in Basel. Fire was my favourite by far, but the chorus was weak and repetitive by the end and the panel unfairly killed it off a bit despite Reylta turning in a good performance by saying Irish traditional music is done in the contest. I don't believe that would be the case with a special, magical Irish song, which Fire isn't but it's certainly better than Dervish who were terrible live and an unfair comparison.

Samantha Mumba was good but this song was not, and the staging was messy, and I think Bobbi Arlo would have been a great representative but the track was not quite there for me and possibly not hooky enough on the first listen to make it into the final.

NIYL was really good, I definitely think that could have been polished into a striking entry and I'm not surprised he came second on the public vote. Adgy was again decent but not strong enough.

I don't think this is a timeless entry or anything, quite forgettable really, but while it's up there it's very fun to listen to, the retro dance sounds do work for a bit, enough for me to say that it's charming and will likely end up around the middle of the pack.

Will it qualify, I really couldn't say, but this has potentially more to attract voters than the normal staid Irish fare coming out of Eurosong pre-Doomsday Blue.

The second good song (after Luxembourg). Is it Eurovision revival after 4 awful years?
I like the song and hopefully it gets some good staging to go with it, vocally I think she will be great at eurovision, it is very catchy and upbeat.
I don't really like it. She can sing and it has gone down well among the community and with Youtubers but it's hard to feel hard done by if both the Irish jury and the public vote both put her top. It could qualify but some of the other entries would have extended Ireland's run of authentically Irish songs in a way that this can't.
I think with ireland for now it's all about qualifying rather than winning after so many DNQ, Bambie exceeded all that last year but even pre eurovision everything was about getting through to the final and hopefully we can qualify for a 2nd consecutive year this year.

Yes. That was pre-Eurovision. Post- Eurovision we have the knowledge that sending an authentic interesting song can do well.

And many Irish fans were hoping to extend that and develop our own space in the contest like Portugal, Albania, Ukraine and others have done.

Nice to see Emmy charting here in Ireland this week, it debuts at number 49, good to see getting some support here starting off.
