It wouldn't be changing the cars just for one track. Hungary, Jeddha, Barcelona, Singapore, Miami, Suzuka, Imola all have problems delivering overtaking. You would improve the racing across the board.

We've seen Colapinto wreck more cars than Schumacher in much less races, but he is still there.

Colapinto is certainly living off his first 2-3 races for Williams where he was a surprise package who performed great, got points and was beating Albon in certain sessions, but since then it's hard to say he's been anything other than one of the worst drivers on the grid, he certainly hasn't been any improvement on Doohan.

Last season he was quick but crash-prone. This season he's slow and crash-prone, surely he's not surviving the summer break even if he makes it through the next 2 races.

The fact he was a direct replacement for Sargeant also made him look better than he is. It's like recent Haas, Mazepin made Schumacher look better than he was, then K-Mag comes in and wipes the floor with him, then the season after K-Mag himself is made to look poor by Hulk. Comparisons can be misleading...

McLaren Racing chief executive officer Zak Brown says he was "not surprised" Christian Horner was sacked as team boss of Red Bull.

Horner was dismissed as team principal and CEO of Red Bull on 9 July, three days after their driver Max Verstappen finished fifth in the British Grand Prix.

Brown told Canadian television channel TSN: "I'm maybe [surprised by] the timing, but not the result.

60% chance of showers Sunday.

Hulkenberg for the win then?

Antonelli has a proper old fashioned spin in the gravel, imagine he's ruined the floor with that one, so expect him to be far off Russell today.

Sprint weekends, are you an fan of them?

Yes I am, whilst I don't always find the Sprint races themselves that entertaining, as a weekend structure it's way better with 4 meaningful sessions and only 1 practice.

That's true better than the standard practice sessions. Would be good if they could do that for the whole season.

Strongly dislike Sprints for many reasons.

The drivers consider them meaningless and most couldn't care less about the result.

They reveal the competitive order for the Grand Prix before qualifying for the actual event even starts. This usually makes the main event more predictable and less interesting as a result.

The majority of drivers often play it safe for fear of incurring damage that will compromise their race proper.

They are usually boring, with no element of strategy or risk. The only interesting part is the first lap or two.

The only interesting ones have been because of the weather, not because of the Sprint.

If a driver receives a penalty or heavy damage during a Sprint it will compromise their race, even though the two events are supposed to be disconnected.

They prevent teams from having the time to optimise set up - bizarrely I want to see the drivers competing at their best - in favour of a gimmick.

Several drivers have been disqualified from successful races due to the lack of time the team was allowed to adjust their set up for the specific circuit.

They don't respect the history and tradition of Formula 1 and Grand Prix racing.

They diminish the prestige of a Grand Prix win.

They take away the equality of the circuits. All GP weekends should be of equal value points wise and not have some give more points than others.

They exist primarily to make money. The lie that they are to give fans better value for money is revealed by the increased costs of tickets for Sprint hosting GPs.

I genuinely enjoy watching practice and seeing how a cars setup is dialed in by the best drivers over the 3 sessions and I miss it on Sprint weekends.

At least they're not reverse grids though, and I can ignore them if I choose.

Ffs his disallowed lap let Bortoleto through, and he managed to beat Nico in Q2 - there goes points in the predictor game

Glad to see Lawson in Q3 & Yuki

what a mess for Hamilton (& Antonelli)
