Following the same structure used in the Dance and Electronic forum, we are going to run the same weekly poll for new indie and alternative releases in 2025. Each week, 8 new releases are selected to go head to head, with one weekly winner which will then go up against future weekly winners later in the year at the end of each quarter of the year, and then again at the end of the year to determine the ultimate winner of 2025.

Last week's results;

Ethel Cain – Amber Waves [ 5 ] ** [38.46%]

Japanese Breakfast – Orlando in Love [ 3 ] ** [23.08%]

Sports Team – Bang Bang Bang [ 2 ] ** [15.38%]

Franz Ferdinand – Hooked [ 1 ] ** [7.69%]

Manic Street Preachers – People Ruin Paintings [ 1 ] ** [7.69%]

The Amazons – My Blood [ 1 ] ** [7.69%]

Doves – Cold Dreaming [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

Squid – Building 650 [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

The Lumineers – Same Old Song [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

zzzahara – In Your Head [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

A first victory in 2025 for Ethel Cain with a haunting 11 minute piece of music that one BuzzJack member likened to sitting in a dark room for an hour experiencing something unique and transcending.

My personal rankings this week;

1. Mumford & Sons – Rushmere

2. Inhaler – A Question For You

3. Skunk Anansie – An Artist Is An Artist

4. Lucy Dacus – Ankles

5. The Wombats – Can't Say No

6. Jungle – Keep Me Satisfied

7. Biig Piig – One Way Ticket

Skunk Anansie’s is the most interesting track for me.

2nd The Wombats

3rd Inhaler

Find Mumford’s a bit dull and too similar to others of theirs.

Architects by a mile x also liking skunk anansie here

would also recommend:

Alien Weaponry – Mau Moko

For me:

1. Mumford & Sons – Rushmere

2. Architects – Blackhole

3. Inhaler – A Question For You

4. Jungle – Keep Me Satisfied

5. Lucy Dacus – Ankles

6. The Wombats – Can't Say No

7. Biig Piig – One Way Ticket

8. Skunk Anansie – An Artist Is An Artist

I quite like all other than the bottom two though.
