What happened to the longest runners summary?

I’ll update that later. didn’t have enough time for it before going out tonight.

Just seen that my phone recognises any single/album with 100+ weeks as a phone number I can call and underlines it 😆

UK TOP 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 29.02.25 #22

THE TOP TEN:

Tate McRae is new at ten with 'Revolving Door,' and Lola Young finally has her fall off as 'Messy' dips to 9. Alex Warren returns to the top ten with 'Ordinary' as Kendrick's Super Bowl effects are dialling down with 'All the Stars' at 7 and 'Luther' at 6. Benson Boone returns to the top 5 with 'Beautiful Things,' which sits below Lady Gaga's 'Abracadabra' at 4. Tate McRae's album sends 'Sports Car' to a new peak of 3, and Chappell Roan also achieves a new peak of 2 with 'Pink Pony Club,' but holding the number one for a 2nd week whilst spending half a year in the chart is 'Not Like Us' by Kendrick Lamar.

NEW ENTRIES:

96. Running Around—Ely Oaks (3.5/10)

No, I'm good, thanks. This is legit another sped-up DJ tune that made its way off TikTok virality, and it sounds like a TikTok song. The only thing I will say is good is how he combined instrumentals into this in a traditional way to give it some style that separates it from straight virality, but honestly, the vocals on this sound like a mix of Michael Jackson (at times) and a cat being stepped on. Oh, and BTW, this is the same guy who went viral after featuring on a remix of "Sigma Boy."

95. Too Much—Dove Cameron (7/10)

It's really bringing across Lady Gaga's style, and it works—not as good as Gaga's 'Abracadabra,' but think of it like a Temu version that's actually quite good, though. The way she speaks, the electrifying pulse, and the dance rhythm are also giving Gaga; it's quick-paced and sounds fit for a club. I like it.

93. LV Bag—Don Toliver/Speedy/J. Hope (3/10)

The majority of people only seem to come to this song because a solo BTS member features on it (J-Hope), and when I saw this collaboration, I immediately knew that this was a one-way ride to failure; yes, it's rap crap. The only person's essence I detect in this is Don Toliver, who manages to spill his autotuned crap over the whole song and ruin it. I legit don't get how people can take him seriously; you can't even hear what he's saying in the song.

88. Dive—Olivia Dean (8/10)

I've had this song on replay for some time, so it's a delight to see this finally enter the UK charts. I don't know why it entered so late, though, and now specifically, it could be due to her other new entry this week, possibly. This song is really well spoken, and Olivia's voice is really well put together with the piano. She eases across the melody and gives the song a chill indie pop feeling, great for a get-together!

60. It Isn't Perfect But It Might Be—Olivia Dean (6.4/10)

Previous listen:

Olivia Dean delivers a great vocal performance but fails to have it be remembered for distinctiveness.

42. Die Trying—PARTYNEXTDOOR/Drake/Yebba (5/10)

39. It's Amazing To Be Young—Fontaines D.C. (5/10)

I never got the hype going around Fontaines D.C.; they were never special; they just created mid music that really doesn't serve much of a purpose to even be on the Internet (well, from what I've heard at least).

37. ExtraL - JENNIE/Doechii (4/10)

Doechii is a great rapper but always fails miserably when it comes to a feature, and working with JENNIE is a recipe for disaster, especially with the past few singles showing disaster too. I don't necessarily know what's bad about this; it just doesn't do anything for me. It's not something I can easily connect to, and Doechii doesn't pack a flavour punch like she does on her solo songs.

28. Call me when you break up—Selena Gomez/Benny Blanco/Gracie Abrams (2.1/10)

From the last single, this was so predictable; Selana and Gracie deliver a run-of-the-mill vocal performance with a really cheesy music video. And to top the disappointment, I found out in a month we will get a Selena and Benny album. I waited all this time for a Gomez project that could possibly be her last one, and then she delivers two singles that are poop and a massive dump on the music industry. The background is way too uninspired and is as basic as basic can be. You would've gotten more of a smile out of me if you had inserted a fart sound into the song.

25. I Know Love—Tate McRae (5.2/10)

24. Little Bit Closer—Sam Fender (5/10)

Honestly, Sam has the ability to make amazing music, but songs like these miss the mark because I can never understand what he's saying, just like on people. Watching the meaning is unclear, and the voice is drowned in the mix, which takes out any part of the music considered art. I can spare it a 5.5/10 because the instrumentals are good, but the rest is poorly executed.

10. Revolving Door—Tate McRae (5.5/10)

Lots of love to Tate, but this is one of the weakest songs on her album. There were so many better choices she could've chosen as a main single, but she chose Revolving Door?! I don't get a world where this would make sense; this song sounds like a filler that would've fit on THINK LATER. I mean, it fits on this album too, but not that well. It has no catch to it at all, and the so-called chorus or hook has the exact same momentum as the start of the song. There's no build-up; it's just right in front of you, which is pretty boring if you ask me. Weak single.
