ROBBIE'S FOOTIE FEST

http://i49.tinypic.com/256zn13.jpg

ROBBIE Williams is bringing back Soccer Aid for a World Cup special - but his pals Ant and Dec will not be fronting it.

They have hosted the last two Soccer Aid matches between a team of UK celebs and ex-players and foreign stars.

But this year's ITV coverage will be fronted by Dermot O'Leary as the Geordie duo are busy with Britain's Got Talent.

Robbie will not be team captain either - but will play in the charity event at Man Utd's Old Trafford ground in June.

A show source said: "Robbie's going to make sure we've got some top-flight celebs."

Legends set to take part include Alan Shearer and French ace Zinedine Zidane.

Should be interesting - I wonder will his knee hold up seeing as he says he had stopped playing due to it? I have a feeling 'Do You Mind' will be the theme for this year, like APTC was on 2006 :D
Is it going to be Englandshire v The Rest of the World again? :smoke:

Soccer Aid 2010 Announced & Tickets On Sale

19 Mar 2010

Soccer Aid is back for 2010 with two squads full of football legends and super celebrities joining the man himself, Robbie Williams, for the star-studded football match with all profits going to children's charity, UNICEF!

Robbie will be captaining the England team against the Rest Of The World XI for the biggest charity kickabout of the year as he hopes to make it a hat-trick of wins for the English side following triumphant victories in 2006 and 2008.

The match will be hosted by The X Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary and broadcast live on ITV1 from The Theatre Of Dreams, Manchester United's legendary stadium, Old Trafford, on Sunday, 6th June 2010.

The line-up

What better way to limber up for this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa than with this year's incredible line-up, which is sure to blow your football socks off!

The current star-studded list of confirmed players include legendary England strike-force duo Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham, plus Liverpool hero and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, Celtic and Barcelona star Henrik Larsson and many, many more! The impressive list of celebrities playing on the hallowed turf include world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay, Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe, presenter Ben Shephard and TV funny man Bradley Walsh. Wow!

Announcing the match, UNICEF ambassador and the brainchild of Soccer Aid, Robbie said: "I am so excited that Soccer Aid is back, and at Old Trafford once again. I have such amazing memories of my last game at Old Trafford. It will be a great time for football, with World Cup fever at boiling point, and there's never been a better time for us to show our support for UNICEF given the recent tragedies affecting children around the world. I hope the whole country will join me and support this fantastic event in June 2010."

Soccer Aid 2010 Robbie Williams is the brainchild behind Soccer Aid and Dermot O'Leary will host the match's ITV coverage

Soccer Aid is back! The epic sporting event will be kicking off on Sunday 6th June at Manchester's legendary Old Trafford stadium and broadcast live on ITV1. Two star-studded squads of footballing legends and celebrities from England and the Rest of the World will take on one another in an electrifying football match all in aid of UNICEF, the world's leading children's organisation.

The brainchild of Robbie Williams and UNICEF UK, this year's event will be hosted by Dermot O'Leary and already confirmed to take part are our Ben Shephard, comic genius James Corden, world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay, actor and TV presenter Bradley Walsh, presenter and DJ Jamie Theakston and actor Jonathan Wilkes.

Comedian Patrick Kielty, boxing hero Ricky Hatton, Irish supergroup Westlife, actor Damien Lewis and cricketing legend Brian Lara alongside footballing heroes Alan Shearer, David Seaman, Tony Adams, Teddy Sheringham, Jamie Redknapp and Henrik Larsson will also be on the pitch with more high-profile names to be announced.

Be in the crowd

Tickets are now on sale for fans to see their favourite stars take to Old Trafford's hallowed turf. Announcing the match, UNICEF Ambassador Robbie Williams said: "I am so excited that Soccer Aid is back, and at Old Trafford once again.

Make a difference

Money raised through profits from ticket sales and donations made by viewers during the match will go to UNICEF's invaluable work helping children around the world. This will be the third Soccer Aid event, with the previous matches, held at Old Trafford in 2006 and Wembley in 2008, raising almost £4 million in total for UNICEF's work.

UNICEF UK's Director of Communications, Victoria Rae said, "Soccer Aid 2010 will raise crucial money for UNICEF to help children around the world. Every minute of every day, children die from common diseases like measles, diarrhoea and malaria. Millions of children don't go to school, have food, shelter or clean water.

Children all over the world suffer from violence, abuse and discrimination, are forced to work in dangerous conditions and denied the chance to play. This is wrong and the money raised from Soccer Aid will help to put it right."

Tuesday April 06 2010

Westlife have been forced to cancel the after-party they had planned to throw for their much anticipated Where We Are concert at Croke Park next June.

The pop foursome were due to host a bash for friends and family after what promises to be one of their biggest gigs ever.

However the Herald has learned the band will instead be hopping on a plane to Manchester to take part in Robbie Williams' World Cup Soccer Aid special the next day.

Why fly into Belfast....try flying to kerry Airport which is just down the road from Tralee .....Ryanair whizz in & out of there every five minutes.....

another option is fly into Shannon Airport , Ryanair do Edinburgh - Shannon ... hire a car & drive to Tralee....Belfast is 300 miles away from Tralee ....Shannon Airport is about 80 miles from Tralee

Zidane Joins Robbie's Soccer Aid

WORLD Cup head-butter ZINEDINE ZIDANE is this year's star signing for Soccer Aid.

It will be amazing to see him in action again - but let's hope Zizou can keep it clean for his big comeback.

He retired from football after his infamous sending off for butting Italy's MARCO MATERAZZI in the 2006 final.

But the France legend is strapping on his boots again for ITV's annual live charity match.
