The Sonique outage only lasted a day or two thankfully.

For any Irish posters, the huge No.1 single Maniac 2000 by Mark McCabe has finally appeared on streaming, albeit with a different singer on the female vocal part a la the upload of Toca's Miracle a few years ago, but much better than not having it on at all.

I think for me personally, it's nice to have them all together on streaming partly for sharing playlists with friends and family and being able to show songs you love to other people in an easy way. A

I have that Sonny J track on CD Single. It was the era when I bought all my personal chart #1s on single, and I was convinced that it was going to be a hit with strong Radio 1 backing. A bit like Peter Bjorn And John the previous year (which did at least sneak into the Top 40 at #35). I can't remember if it was the 2007 original or the 2008 re-release but I have a feeling it was the original (when it made #80 in October 2007).

I loved them so much that I also bought the follow-ups “Enfant Terrible” (which only made #20 for me) and “Hands Free (If You Hold My Hand)” (which stalled at #2 behind Elbow's “One Day Like This” in June 2008), strangely both of those are available to stream!

Here's the sample btw:

A couple that I wish were on streaming/for sale:

Lisa Lougheed “Run With Us”

Not a hit at all, however I’m not sure if it ever got a release in the UK. I've got an mp3 rip from a 7” vinyl that someone kindly uploaded, but it'd be nice to have it available more widely to the public.. a childhood favourite for me!

Zoë “Lightning”

The only single in chart history to peak with 3 weeks at #37, that's iconic enough for it to deserve to be on streaming services. Also I need it to complete my meteorologically themed playlist.

Sunscreem “Love U More”

They've put the album version up, but I prefer the single mix with its drums & twinkly intro. Why no single mix when they've put the single mixes for “Perfect Motion” and “Please Save Me”? The latter barely made the Top 40. I had to get the original CD single from discogs so I could have the original mix.

Run With Us is apparently coming to streaming as of 22nd April, according (and with thanks) to Pop Music Activism!

Vintage Culture & Gabss - Lost was recently pulled off spotify? is this licensing or? it was a proper tune so its a shame.

edit: idk if region locked songs count but a good idea would be to add ‘Beautiful Eyes’ and ‘I Heart?’ by Taylor Swift as both are region locked to japan iinw

Who remembers "One Big Family" by Templecloud? That's a song not on there.

I was putting together a playlist today of the biggest songs over the years that missed the UK #1 (using a specific definition to determine what counts or doesn't for the list), and I happened to notice that Neil Reid's Mother Of Mine and Father Abraham's Smurf Song are both missing from spotify, although the latter seems to be available in a soundalike version that is suspiciously close indeed to the original, whilst I'm in no rush to play the former anyway so just added a karaoke version as a placeholder. All 185 other tracks I needed for the years 1952 to 2004 were there in at least some sort of version, though I couldn't swear that they were all the original versions. I'm still compiling the stats for 2005-2026, but when I've done that and then completed the playlist I will post it on one of the threads I'm working on.
