(1 week)20 April Ed Sheeran – Azizam (1 week)27 April Djo – Potion (1 week)3 May Pulp – Spike Island (1+ week) 1000th chartChart CommentaryMy chart started within the first week of Buzzjack’s existence on 12 March 2006 – the thread is here I had a debut top 3 of Orson, The Feeling and The Sugababes (very 2006!).I haven’t missed a week since and I have posted my chart every Sunday (new release day, the style at the time) since. So here we are at my 1000th chart and my first chart commentary for many a year. At number 1 we have Pulp with their comeback song Spike Island. As my favourite band of all time I was worried I wouldn’t like this but I am so pleased its great and can’t wait for the new album next month.Djo take the runner up spot dropping from last week’s number 1 with the lovely Potion from his album The Crux (my current album number 1) and his second number 1 of the year. The top 3 is rounded off by Miley Cyrus with the lovely End Of The World. It’s a shame this has flopped on the Official chart.Holding at 4 is Azizam from Ed Sheeran, his recent chart topper and return to a more ‘go-ey’ vibe which I fully approve of. At 5 is CIRCUS who are on the rise from 11 last week. I first heard of CIRCUS vis Facebook reels, for a change they had it right and I’m already a big fan.Purple Disco Machine feat. Alison Goldfrapp (see number 19 as well) are also on the rise at 6, Sombr drops to 7, Sophie Ellis-Bextor rises to 8 and finishing off the top 10 are two long running former chat toppers from Lady Gaga and Chappell Roan.Outside the top 10, Sam Fender rises to 11 with his newbie Tyrants, Turnstile has the weeks highest new entry at 12 with the 80s-tastic Seein’ Stars and Alison Godfrapp (see number 6 as well) has a new entry with the slinky electronica of Find Xanadu.Further down the chart, two recently resurgent tracks continue to fall. Both Die With a Smile (Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars) and APT. (ROSE and Bruno Mars) were number 1 last months after many weeks on my chart. I decided to reward two songs that has missed out on number 1 originally with the chart topper they deserved and these two fit the bill. Good for Bruno Mars!To round off the chart, Inhaler’s first chart topper Your House finally drops out and the Dove’s Renegade isn’t far off at 37. New Year number 1 Freedom Of The Night from Sophie Ellis-Bextor hangs on at 37 and Tom Rasmussen and Romy’s Never Look Back are nearly out at 38.Coldplay (the most successful artist on my chart) are still around with their Christmas number 1 ALL MY LOVE.Thanks for looking at my 1000th chart and for any comments! Look out for my new chart archive thread of all my chart number 1s from Buzzjack coming next week.
