Do they ever announce albums (including spin-offs) on any day except Thursday? Maybe they are just finalising Now 123 and that’s why it’s late and we’ll still get a release date of 10 April 2026?

Perhaps they’re scared to announce it because of your scathing iTunes reviews.

Well, certainly if there is no announcement this week and we have passed the halfway point in March then I would seriously call into question to continuation of the series at this point.

I don't even know if we would have the decency of an announcement by the Now creators to say they are changing or stopping a Spring release, and any other to follow.

So much for the saying, it's as easy as 1-2-3. Not for Now is ain't.

I am worried as the US series just seemed to stop everything altogether, even their spin-offs with no announcements whatsoever. Their social media page has been left derelict.

However, the UK series is still releasing spin-offs so hopefully Now 123 is still going ahead. Maybe they’re going to push it back to the very end of April just to get as many hits as possible. But I 100% get what you’re saying, they know there are die hard fans of this series that has been going for 43 whole years. To not give fans piece of mind is quite a d*ck move tbh.

Now never publicly announce their plans, or engage with anyone, as far as I can see. Which is, in my opinion, poor service when many of us pump so much money into them.

I must have spent up to £500 on Now related products last year like CDs, vinyl, including all the Yearbooks and Extras, some spin-offs and the numbered albums. So I don't think essentially giving zero customer service is very good.

It wouldn't bother me at all if they were to switch to two numbered albums a year, but you can't just not announce it if that were to happen, because the series has loyal customers that are used to the release pattern of three editions a year in spring/summer/winter for well over 30 years. It's crazy to me that in the US the series just stopped with no communication.

If you treat your customers with a wall of silence when you don't have a high turnover to begin with anymore, then you will just annoy them and more of them will jump ship.

I do think though that Now 123 will be announced this week or next and that there is probably just a very slight delay to try and get some more hits on it as the charts have been so barren for new big hits that are also presumably licensable. They don't want to put out a really weak edition.

If they decide not to announce Now 123 on Thursday, they’ll more likely announce the next yearbook instead. The charts being slow shouldn’t stop Now from doing their spring edition. The charts are like that all year round. In the US, they stopped all their albums completely and Now not responding is bad customer service. If you don’t respond, you’re gonna lose customers who will decide to take their custom elsewhere

If they were to release Now 123, they won’t clash it with 12" 1986 part 2. The only albums that ever tend to clash with the numbered series is the pointless spin-offs. In my opinion, they should announce Now 123 this week for 10th April and push 12" 1986 part 2 back a week like they did with 12" 1985 part 2

Am I right in thinking the UK editions are way more popular than the US ones were? I’m not sure how much they sold in the US or how popular they were towards the end, but the numbered editions in the UK are the brand’s core product, so it seems bizarre that they would just end them and continue with spin-offs. I’m sure I read somewhere that one of the reasons they release so many spin-offs is to help afford making the numbered volumes anyway.

I genuinely don’t believe the series has come to an end, and I don’t think it will for many years either (especially ending at a number like 122). I think they’ll start by reducing the amount of volumes per year like they did in the 80s and then eventually switch to digital/streaming before stopping them completely. Maybe Now 150 in 9 years time would be the last one? That would make sense, as much as I hope the series carries on forever.

Hopefully we’re just getting ahead of ourselves and we get the Now 123 announcement this week. When I created my version of the album it didn’t seem weak as I imagined it would (granted I included a handful of songs that were probably unlicensable) but I didn’t include many Radio 2 artists at all. I, like many others, would be gutted if they started to cut down as I genuinely feel excitement for each release.

I’ve just scrolled through past posts on their instagram page, and I didn’t realise how small the gap between the announcement and release date of Now 111 was in 2022, with the announcement being on 15 March and the release date being the 8 April. Hopefully all should be okay with Now 123.

They also did the same with Now 112 but with Now 113, they announced it 4 weeks before release date

Slightly off topic but I bought Now 111 and Now 112 as duplicate spares from an independent music shop last year for about £5 each brand new. I just looked them up on eBay to see how much they were and they are worth a fortune, why is that?

I’ve completed Now 21-29 of my Now omissions albums. I was thinking earlier that I missed when Now would tease the artworks before they revealed them. So here’s a teaser for Now 29 that I will reveal tonight.

Looks like a silky backdrop, similar to Now 43

Now 29

I’m quite proud of this one, and I think it’s quite strong considering this is perhaps the only one I’ve made with no number 1 singles on it.

@awardinary it’s perhaps the exact opposite of silk! 😂

Due for release on 24th April. What’s the point in doing a pointless 70s spin-off when the next yearbook is more likely gonna be 70s? If they don’t wanna announce Now 123, I’d rather they announced the next yearbook instead of this and they could’ve at least disguised it as an eras album. It might actually convince people to buy it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0GSDDQS2Q

Seeing as 17th April is still empty, I hope they fill it with either the next yearbook or Now 123; more preferably the latter

The 17th April being left empty seems like a good sign, fingers crossed we get the Now 123 announcement any day now.
