Switches are band from Southend who play a mixture of indie rock and 1970’s glam rock and power pop. They cite as their main influences as David Bowie, Weezer, 10cc, Marc Bolan, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Blur,

They released their debut EP on Degenerate Records, produced by Paul Schroeder and entitled ‘Message from Yuz’ on 10 July 2006, and their debut single, ‘Lay Down the Law’ on September 25, 2006. The band began recording their debut album in August 2006 in Los Angeles.

To date, Switches have toured with The Rakes, The Automatic, Graham Coxon and played the Carling Festivals in Leeds and Reading.

The band release their new single 'Drama Queen', their first official Atlantic release, on January 29th 2007.

I must say I downloaded 'Drama Queen' on a whim and it's quite amazing.

Very run of the mill - generic indie stuff but I love the song atm and hope they can do well.

I've heard Lay Down The Law somewhere before but I can't think exactly where. Its a pretty hot song though like most of their stuff. ^_^
They're ok, saw them on the Album Chart Show on Friday and keep seeing their video everywhere. They're ok, a little generic as you say Graham but alright :D
Yup, there was a mini-buzz about Switches last year. Message From Yuz and Lay Down the Law were both good tunes, but when I saw them supporting Graham Coxon they were lacking something and the singer kept singing out of key.

The single is released next week.

I doubt it will do well.

It'll floppie doppie :(

I don't even know if anywhere will be selling it here?

Get it online - yeah, it's a shame that some bigger retail stores don't bother - yet I notice Asda had that cheetah girls (?) song in their top 10...and it went in about 100 or so didn't it?

Cynical...they expect Mums with kids to drop it in their trolleys since there's an outside chance the kid might have seen a show on TV.
