Which still puts her at #4 without any streaming whatsoever. Considering the numbers pulled in last week in terms of physical copies, that's pretty good going to continue what will now probably be a steady momentum week after week

Heck sabrina "only" sold 5.7k physicals (200 downloads ) in her second week at number 1 nobody seemed bothered then (first comparison I could find as they dont always give week 2 physicals etc) but im guessing that was probably the biggest week 2 "sales" up to now

I’m always a little surprised how few copies people sell in Week 2 compared to Week 1 these days. But not just with Taylor - with almost everyone. Coldplay was one of the most dramatic examples I’ve seen. You’d think there’d be buyers who want the album but aren’t in a mad rush. But I guess it just shows how dead the casual physical album market is - nobody is going into HMV and thinking I’ll pick up the Taylor or Coldplay album while I’m here.

Think its mostly down to streaming this days tbf, if you want to casual check it out its there within seconds without having to actual purchase it,

Although in terms of coldplay I think that was more the tour presale effect (even though there is in very small print a no purchase necessary option 😅 remember that taking weeks to go platinum after its initial almost platinum sales)

I reckon golden most likely candidate if any reclaim, half term, back in cinema , Halloween so its fitting as its reclosingbthe gap on Olivia the last 2 weeks

Hard to say without hearing anything from this album yet but I'd have Dave as a potential #1 with whatever the single/focus track is from his album the week after next.

Looking at current sales figures I would be (pleasantly) surprised if Dave makes #1 single. Clash did 53k on release week of his last album (and 46.5k on its own release week 2 weeks earlier) which is a long way short of what Golden is doing week after week at this point, even if Taylor sees a drastic drop-off.

Dave, like Billie Eilish, has yet to have a #1 single off one of his studio albums - will be interesting to see if he can pull it off this time but yeah I wouldn't count on it.

This is a pretty alarming stat, thank goodness for ACR and the three-track rule! The charts would be dire to follow otherwise, almost a members-only club at times.

Alan is wrong about Madonna, it reached its peak before not just on downloads but with a vinyl too. It was only a CD release added last week.

Also found it super interesting that Taylor Swift didn't record an OCC registered album sale of any kind until January 2008 - I bought her debut in February 2008 as I mentioned before, so now wondering if I was one her first 10 supporters in the UK, I suppose it's quite a high possibility! 😮
