-late reaction- (I missed almost all of the second half of the results live as well lol but this time because they were too early in the day and I wasn't home yet!! so this thread is further contributing to my reaction giving/receiving imbalance as I've just been posting about in the Lounge kink )

Congrats Rich, wow you're on fire with the song contests at the moment - unfortunately this was another one I didn't vote for whoops, among such a strong field of songs I cannot say this one registered for me at all as a likely big hit but I obviously missed something with it for it to go on to win by a reasonably comfortable margin, perhaps I ought to give it another listen. It is good to see a pretty inspired winner anyway, Black Box Recorder were actually the only artist from the list that I had never heard of at all before as far as I recall...!

The rest of my votes unmasked in the second batch of results being from Whoddy, Dan and Julian - mixed fates for those songs, 'Jump In The Pool' was definitely the song I knew best from the list and it is a brilliant song I was happy to revisit so happy it did so well but also fairly happy it didn't quite win as it'd have felt a little too obvious. On the other hand I am a little baffled at how badly Imogen Heap did as I'm sure she's generally quite popular on here and this was a fab song from her! Thanks for the discovery anyways.

Pleased that my 12 from FKA twigs ended up making the top 5 but otherwise not the greatest results from my votes, I only voted for 4 of the top 10, poor brave Lamb and Fiona Apple being narrowly denied top 10 spots by Paris Hilton of all people lmao (I do have some nostalgia for that song due to plug.dj memories but it's still a bit naff xx) and had hoped Cherry Ghost and AWOLNATION might have done a bit better than that too.

I finished 3 places higher than I expected though, yay! magic Thanks to dandy* and Rollo for a couple of bronze medals providing just over half of my total points and to AllStar, Cow, Jonjo, Mattias and Whoddy for the rest of my points, I did worry it might get completely lost and struggle to get any points at all (not least being drawn right after Cherry Ghost in the running order which fills a pretty similar niche, as Rich commented during the listenthrough iirc) so genuinely quite happy with that. Not too sure Sampha would have done that much better in the end to be honest!
