Day 11 - Wannabe (Live at Christmas in Spiceworld)

Lets hope for a proper nice surprise tomorrow!

This is my least favourite performance of Wannabe on tour. Even the previous one on this tour was better.... Mel C's screaming the pre-chorus just ruins it for me...

But anyway, good to have it on higher quality!

I'm terrified for tomorrow, cos Wannabe is the last song on the concert, and also may be the Christmas Medley the last surprise and not W.O.M.A.N. ☠️ and, also, if they release the video we're hoping, since their attitude, may sound like: you wanted W.O.M.A.N. and you get it. and that's it

That is exactly what will happen lol

What we know:

- WOMAN is the video released tonight as it has been discovered by fans on YouTube (I will only post it once it is 'launched' though)

- The videos will all become 'listed' either tonight or the next day.

- Chris in Spice Circle is hinting at a surprise so maybe it will be some sort of EP or digtal compilation with all the videos. We know that Goodbye (live at CiS) has turned up on Spotify (though it is blocked) so maybe the audio from these videos will also be on streaming platforms like Spotify or something like that

Fans are hoping for the studio version of WOMAN to be released as well, but I seriously doubt it. Judging from their track record with these things, I would say they will simply go 'finally after you asked for so long, here is WOMAN' and it will just be the video of its live performance lol...

We'll see.. Not long now.. Whatever happens, it is FOR SURE going to be a bloodbath on Spice Circle lol

I love this performance DAMN IT! What an iconic performance. The breakdown is everything and they have so much attitude in this. I really wish they had released it at the time, actually.

I hope we eventually get the demo, they just need to get it out there asap!

Funny to think that 26 years on from performing it, this YouTube upload is the first time that WOMAN is an official part of their online catalogue, i.e. not just a fan upload. I am really not holding my breath for the demo though.

lol let’s be honest. They already thought they did its a favor by posting WOMAN live online.

It doesn't even show up on their YouTube profile, it is specific to that link above sent over on the mailing list. It was clearly a surprise just for the fans.

So what I gather from the email, the unlisting of the videos and the playlist and how it is being framed, it is that this was just a gift for us fans who have been following them. They literally hint at it in the email.

Also, a few things of note from a few fans on SC who have close relationships with them:

- Chris on Spice Circle stated that they were not able to get anything else aproved, so the team at Universal put this together as a thank you for us staying with them. I get it, even if it is bittersweet because it just shows how the group itself is not behind this at all. Chris also says that eventually the videos will be listed, and I believe him. Maybe something else will come, even if it is just the videos being listed and that's it.

- The girls have NO MANAGEMENT. The rumours that Simon was back in the picture are seemingly false. During the Spice25 era, they had a new manager but she left out of frustration of not being able to do anything as the group wouldnt agree on anything. So they are left to manage themselves, which explains a lot.

- The Spice Girls vaults are a mess, after things were missed, not arquived and licenses not kept to date since 2000. Various teams have come and gone but they have no relationship with Universal or any management.

So in a way, I am thankful for their team at Universal. I bet they didnt get aproval for anything like a proper release and managed to do this instead. But I am also a bit furious that with the f***ing Spice Girls, this is all we get because they themselves can't get their shit together - and seemingly they don't give a shit either.

WOMAN has to be released, eventually. They know this, and if they are not going to tour or gives us anything else, then the fans will leave them.

Maybe we should bring this up when Mel C has those live Q&As with fans to sort shit out for us spice girls fans who's been with them from the start....

At this point, and seeing that they clearly have the full concert in HD, do you think there’s any chance we might get a Christmas surprise along the lines of “here you go, the full Earls Court concert”? Or are they just going to make us suffer for a few more years while doing absolutely nothing?

Because honestly, it feels a bit cruel to let us see that this material exists in great quality and then just sit on it for no apparent reason. It’s not even only about not releasing the studio version of W.O.M.A.N. anymore, it’s the fact that there are high-quality recordings of their concerts out there (Earls Court, TROTSG Tour, Spiceworld 2019, the full Live in Istanbul show…) and they still can’t seem to get their act together enough to release any of them properly in HD.

Seeing those 9 HD videos uploaded now just makes it more frustrating, because it confirms what we already suspected: the vault isn’t empty. It’s right there. And yet, for whatever reason, we’re still left with crumbs instead of a full release.

Absolutely, we know they have a lot of material to release but they don't do it. Music-wise it has been some of the girls blocking that for a long time. Concerts-wise I have no idea but clearly it can be done.

This only makes me less interested in their solo projects because to me, they continuously use the band to promote their solo projects but are not getting together to actually do anything about the band.

Let's see. The rumours above about them not having management might be exagerations. But we have no way of knowing lol

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration because it’s been reported (by the Sun, who got their insider from the girls) that up until this point, it was Geri who has been managing the band. So their lack of decision shows…

Really besides Simon, I think they are unmanageable.

Heh, the quality of the uploaded performances didn’t strike me as being too good. I mean the close ups look pretty good, but then there’s horrors like this going on with their upscale!

Yeah Ive noticed that the upgrade in some of the shots in the Viva Forever video are f***ing awful to be honest

The videos are now all properly released on YouTube channel... seems like that's all there is to it.

The Forever re-release was the perfect chance for Woman to be released. Don't understand why they won't put it out, it drives me mad!
