After the great 4th place in the worldvision song contest for Jones & Stephenson, we are hoping for another nice reception of a song from the Zephyra Continuum. After we went Italien in the last contest, it is now time for Viva Espana in BJSC186. Let's welcome María Peláe.

María Peláe (born María Peláez Sánchez on 31 March 1990 in Málaga, Spain) is a Spanish singer-songwriter renowned for blending the passion of flamenco with contemporary pop, folk, and socially conscious storytelling. Her music is distinguished by witty lyrics, sharp social commentary, and a distinctive sense of humor, making her one of the most original voices in today's Spanish music scene.

After beginning her musical journey as a teenager, Peláe studied Social Work and later Anthropology while pursuing her artistic career. She gained recognition through songwriting competitions before releasing her debut album Hipocondría. Since then, she has built a successful career as both a performer and songwriter, writing songs for well-known Spanish artists and becoming a familiar face on television through her appearance on Tu Cara Me Suena, where she finished in third place. Her albums continue to explore themes of identity, equality, love, and social justice, always with a uniquely Andalusian perspective.

An outspoken advocate for diversity and LGBTQ+ visibility, María Peláe uses her platform to challenge prejudice while celebrating authenticity and freedom of expression. Her performances combine emotional depth with humor and theatricality, earning her a devoted following across Spain and beyond.

Her current single and our entry for BJSC186 is "No Estoy Católica." The title is based on a Spanish idiom: no estar católica does not literally mean "not being Catholic," but rather "not feeling well," "not being in the mood," or "having no patience left." Peláe cleverly plays with this double meaning to deliver a witty yet powerful statement. The song is a defiant rejection of arrogance, manipulation, hypocrisy, and anyone who tries to impose their views on others. Its central message is one of self-respect and setting boundaries: "Not today—I have no patience left for your behavior. Don't try to lecture me or control me." Through humor, wordplay, and social criticism, the song perfectly reflects María Peláe's fearless artistic voice.

We are overwhelmed by the love for Charlotte's song, which has already given us our first win in our fifth participation at BJSC. It was rather unexpected, eventhough "Struck" was performing well in t

  • Welp I really hope this doesn't get eaten alive in the "pop semi" as this is unsurprisingly right up my street!

As we are a continuum, it is time for a change in direction compared to the previous three contests. It is time for alternative dream pop from Manchester. atmos bloom are Tilda Gratton und Curtis Paterson. "It's Enough" is from their second album "Everythingness", which has been released two weeks back. Stylisticly this is dream pop meeting shoegaze. It reminds me much of songs from one of my favourite bands "Lush" and the vocals reminds me a bit of Sarah Cracknell from Saint Etienne (another of my favourite bands).

This is our entry for BJSC 187

We are hoping for lots of fans of our song in BJSC 187.

The Zephyra Continuum loves the current Pop music from Poland - there are 7 songs in Polish language in the current Zephyra Hot 40 charts. So it is just consequent to nominate a Polish singer as contestant for the Zephyra Continuum for BJSC 188. Livka (real name Oliwia Kiszczak, born 1 February 2003 in Lublin) is a Polish singer-songwriter working between alternative pop, indie pop and contemporary hip-hop/pop. "Poza Tobą Nic" is a beautiful atmospheric pop song and is currently taking off in the Zephyra Continuum and a candidate for next weeks #1. Hope Livka will find some fans in the light of BJSC 188.

For BJSC 189 it is time for something completrely different to our previous entries. It is time to bring on the dutch stuff from the 1990's. 3 Steps Ahead is Peter-Paul Pigmans, who was one of the biggest names in the gabber/hardcore scene in the 1990's. Unfortuantely Peter-Paul died way to early on the 27th of August 2003 of brain cancer.

"Drop It" is one of the biggest oldschool anthems in the dutch Gabba scene combining hard beats with uplifting strings and the unique vocal line from Captain Hollywood Project: "We are flying high - we are flying right up to the sky!"

Welp I really hope this doesn't get eaten alive in the "pop semi" as this is unsurprisingly right up my street!
