On my ex forum, for my first contest, I posted a screenshot of one of my favorite songs because the music video reminded me of something. I didn’t include a link, thinking people wouldn’t bother searching for the song through the image. But somehow, it was found anyway. 😄 By the next contest, the song had already been submitted by someone else. The person who took it later admitted it, back then I was a bit naive. Now it feels so weird and wonderful that no one steals anything hahah 😄

  • I've been doing this for 2 years and it's only become less clear what does well. The general consensus is - send something you really like (compliant with the Veto Framework https://www.buzzjack.com/f

  • There's no reason that they can't, but it would be quite bad form on behalf of that poster. In the cut throat days of 2008-11 it would have happened though. I suppose one could, in a way, do a natio

Yeah I don't think anyone would steal an idea from you - although it is of course possible that you may choose something that someone else is already considering sending. It depends on what it is I guess, if you're sending something that's really recent and has a sound of something that could be really popular then people may already be on to it and want to send it themselves, it isn't uncommon that some recent songs get confirmed two or three times by different people.

I guess the advantage of doing polls like this is to reduce the risk of sending an underwhelming entry (in comparison to other entries) in the actual contest though a small number of poll answers doesn't always paint a big picture of what would suit best for the edition or what the larger portion of participants rate higher.

That's true but when you value the opinion of the people who are commenting you can factor that in, also.
