I would've been 3, so I don't think I even knew who she was - let alone this song! Although I do have memories of hearing 'I Should Be So Lucky' on the radio as a toddler.

Well i was 13 and a full of on Kylie fan for a few years at that time and while i loved everything up to this point what do i have to do was the mega moment for me, of course i was expecting a massive hit as i loved it so much so i was disappointed with how it performed, at the time i wasnt as familiar about her declining popularity so was really disappointed that it was her first single to miss the Top 5. Little did i know Kylie getting a 10 single 35 years later would be a massive thing.

I know she'd had a fantastic run up to that point, but I think even at the time most people would have bet against her being a going concern in 35 years time.

I have the faintest of memories of Better The Devil You Know and Confide In Me, but by the time the latter came out I was 6.

Definitely, it was the start of some saying well the end is coming as she has lasted a bit longer than they expected as it was her first non Top 5 single and Rhythm of Love charted much lower than her previous 2 albums and its sales were also well down so people were starting to write her off despite her having such amazing singles at this time...... but how wrong they were.

I still find it odd that Rhythm of LOve only made number 9, im sure even though her popularity was in decline no one really predicted the album would miss the top 5 after having 2 huge selling number 1's

Yeah the drop off from Enjoy Yourself to Rhythm of Love is very confusing. Am I right in saying Kylie still appeared in Neighbours in the UK until the end of 1989 despite leaving in 1988? Maybe that extra promo was helping sell her records, especially since for the first two albums fans basically saw Charlene rather than Kylie.

I still can't quite fathom why there was such a huge gap between 'Better the Devil' and 'Step Back in Time'/the album release. I'm almost certain that affected it.

It was released off the back of a #4 single as well, which I guess at the time was her joint lowest.

Charlenes last episode aired in June 1989 from what i remember but she finished filming in 1988 so that would have helped the first 2 albums, with no Charlene and a complete change in kylies styling and changing music was in full force for the release of rhythm of love.
