The Day Before You Came is one of my favourite Abba songs. Sadly, it was released at a time when their popularity was in decline so it was only a minor hit. Blancmange recorded a brilliant version, with added quirkiness, whichh did slightly better than the original. Now, Pulp have recorded what may be an even better version for Radio 2's Live Lounge. This really should be released as a single in the hope that the song can finally be a big hit.

A brilliant cover of one of Abba's best and yes it should be a single . This take gives it a much more positive feeling but it does take the ambiguity out of the song and I've always liked the bleaker

Can't say I've heard anything from Pulp outside of the usual classics but wow, this song suits them to a tee! The orchestral arrangement is really beautiful - Agnetha's voice takes center stage in the original, but here Jarvis' style is restraint enough to allow a bigger production. I'm not sure the magic of the song would be quite the same if both the voice and production were equally as prominent.
