The #1 question is: will this translate on this side of the pond?

2nd question: who will be the first slew of hosts & musical guests this season?

Okay this was brilliant. George and Jack were absolutely hilarious, looking forward to more from them. Great start, hoping the momentum will last.

It's all relative though - Sky won't be expecting the same ratings as if it were on one of the main channels. Most of the viewership will be from NOW catch-up anyway though.

I think they're just hoping that a clip will go viral or something. I doubt they're expecting the viewership of the actual programme to be up to much.

If it was on one of the main channels it might have a chance but buried on Sky it's bound to flop.

Yeah can’t imagine Sky will have a high reach. unsure I’m not convinced this is going to translate as well as the US version but glad it will at least provide a much-needed platform for British performers. JADE better get booked! 👀

It definitely won't be anywhere as big as the main SNL in the states. It'll flop, and eventually be cancelled.

Never really found the US one funny, but wonder if this will be any better

I barely know any of these people except for the music guests

For the writers mentioned in the OP that is the whole point as it is designed as a platform to launch/boost careers, as is standard for the US too; it's just most of them have since become household names.

The hosts are usually celebs and recognisable faces though.

It unfortunately didn't work for me like it does with the American version. Not that I watch a lot of it but still. I'll give it another go next week.

50/50 for me. Really liked some, but a couple dragged (really disliked the movie interview sketch). Will definitely watch next week though

The host was very meh. Musical guest, Wet Leg just ain't for me so didn't care for that or the next two musical guests they have coming up. (Why they have three Rock bands back to back? Like variety where?) Liked 2 sketches but that was it. Barely laughed. Little disappointed.
