Posted Thursday at 01:345 days Ok girlies gather around What are your favourite unreleased songs from the Spice Girls catalogue, both group and solo??... I think they have some f***ing bangers that could have been album tracks or at least b-sides!This is just for Unreleased songs, no 'Independence Day' or movie-soundtrack or side projet type of release please. Keep it clean My favourites are:SPICE GIRLSRight Back At Ya (Pop Mix)Honestly this woud have been a perfect single in 1999 or even in Spring 2000 to get them back in the group groove before hitting us with fulll on r&b of Holler. It's funky as f***, fun and could have been a club and radio hit with some fun mixes!Sugar & SpiceCould have been an excellent b-side to one of the Spice-era singles, or even part of a delux, imo. I prefer it to One of These Girls, as it is less cringe and has more attitude. I bet with a Spice-producers mix, it would have been even better!EMMARapsodyEasily could have been on Life in Mono album or at least as a b-side! It's such a VIBE, I want to go drink margaritas in the a South Italy beach listening to it and flirt with local boys SecretsWhile this sounds like an unfinished song, I think it has a lot of potential. The narrative is there, the production just needed to be a bit more interesting and not so overpowering. But overall, it had the melodies and chorus to be a great song! Just needed some polishing. Even if not an album track, I could see it given to a Movie to be a soundtrack song or a b-side to Take Me To Another Town....Melanie BI've Got My Eyes On YouWith a bit of polishing of production and some of the lyrics, this had such potential to be included in Hot. I don't understand why it was scrapped when it was better than half of that album (sorry....)Victoria BeckhamWhatever You WantI would love love a more r'n'b version of this, actually. It has potential, the melody is there to be great. It could at least been a great b-side!I Should Have Known BetterCome on, this would have been such a great BOP with proper mastering! It would fit the retro-pop vibes of the early 2000s so easily, it's a shame they didn't give it a proper go with it. The lyrics are simply yet effective and sounds really up Victoria's vibe.( I dont know enough Mel C or Gerita unreleased tracks, and honestly what I heard I wasnt very impressed at all lol so I wont comment on more than this one)Geri Halliwell Without LoveThere is a great song here, just needed a better producer and some of the verses lyrics need working a bit to be more relatable and the narrative to be more cohesive. But overall, there is the beginnings of a great song here!I kind of wish she had sold it to someone else, I bet some other more experimental pop acts would eat this up. Friday at 00:304 days Author OMG a flop thread... You guys don't appreacite the unreleased songs???!!!Maybe we as a fandom don't deserve the unreleased tracks at the end of the day ☹️
Saturday at 20:213 days My two favorite unreleased tracks are Melody of Life and Give You What You Want. The registered title for the latter is actually What You Want. https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/907727844What You Want has that classic late 90’s pop sound that I love. The lyrics are definitely missing Geri’s touch, but overall it’s pretty good. The melody is great and the song is catchy. Melanie C’s bridge is chef’s kiss. Melody of Life has a lot of attitude and is catchy. It definitely feels more like a Spice era song than a Touch era track. Tim Laws wrote Melody of Life and Sugar & Spice. Not surprising the same writer wrote these as I think they are much stronger than the majority of the other touch songs. Mel B recorded 4 tracks with Biff for Hot. LullabyEyes On You RushMiss MeAll 4 are written by Richard Stannard, Richard Norris, Melanie Gulzar, Julian Gallagher. The other 3 songs are registered on this German music publishing site GEMA. It’s pretty safe to assume I’ve Got My Eye On You is actually Eyes On You. https://online.gema.de/werke/search.faces
Saturday at 21:223 days Author Oh thanks, I didn't know this! I wonder why the title of Give You What You Want came about then? It was first labelled as If It's Lovin' On Your Mind, then Give You What You Want... I am pretty sure I have seen it somewhere like ASCAP or other sites as that... I will update the master list on the other thread with this info, thank you!Personally I don't much care for this song. It always felt like they were trying to recreate a 5ive song, and the lyrics seemed undercooked for me. But it is a fun track for sure!Melody of Life is sooo good. When the first snipped leaked years ago, I thought it would be a bit meh but just like with Sugar & Spice, I was pleasently surprised that it was funky and cool. Those two feel more like songs during their transition from Touch to Spice Girls. Did they write on it as well?... They definitely more of their sound.
Saturday at 21:313 days Author @Sideout if you know of anymore unreleased tracks like Rush and Miss Me, please let me know! I can't get around that German Publishing site
Saturday at 22:023 days The DenDen elite person who originally leaked the snippets of the Eliot Kennedy tracks said the title was If It’s Loving On Your Mind. When the tracks leaked in full the leaker revealed the actual title was Give You What You Want. Then years later the song was registered on ASCAP as What You Want. Interesting note is Pain Proof and A Day In Your Life are not registered.
