Finally gave 'Upside Down' a listen, it's nice enough although the chorus totally washes over me.

I'm not getting much of the dance/electronic vibe described in the album's sound though, it's a bit like 'Glorious' with some twinkly 80s keyboards thrown in.

You share my exact thoughts on the dance electronic vibe. I was expecting something totally different from Upside Down even though it's a good song.

Love this! Very fun and different for her, with a little bit a humour.

This is the release:

"Algorithm" stands as perhaps Imbruglia's most musically ambitious offering to date. The track is a striking slice of electronic pop inspired by her own struggles with scrolling addiction. Driven by dark, crunching synths that evoke the sonic landscape of Depeche Mode, the song features Imbruglia shifting effortlessly between an alluring siren’s call and an enigmatic, Bowie-esque drawl.

Co-written and co-produced alongside MyRiot, the single addresses contemporary anxieties. "It’s like you’ve opened one trapdoor and you’re falling endlessly through one after another," Imbruglia explains. "The title comes from a place of real concern for the world we’re living in. We’re in a dark place and psychological warfare is being waged upon us. This is about sparking that conversation."

The record represents a major milestone for Imbruglia, who personally financed the project to secure complete creative freedom through her own independent label, Landgirl Records. She co-wrote and co-produced every track, collaborating with a stellar line-up of talent including Fraser T Smith, Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody, and Dan Priddy. The result is a fearless, reinvigorated collection that honours her Brit-winning heritage while embracing a modern sound that has earned praise from current pop icons like Olivia Rodrigo.

The Algorithm album is available for pre-order on CD, deluxe vinyl, and digital platforms. Fans can also catch Imbruglia delivering her signature high-energy sets live this summer. Her extensive international festival tour continues through June and August, featuring high-profile appearances alongside Tom Jones and Ricky Martin across the UK, Europe, and beyond.

She's doing some signings and shows in the week of Algorithm's release in September! 😁

I've booked for the HMV Westfield signing. Should be good not been there for a signing in ages since 363 Oxford Street opened again as that seems to be the default store!

The vinyl is gorgeous! 🤩 I got the purple and the blue from wax and beans, for now.

Amazing review in the September edition of Classic Pop as Best New Album!

Nat's charging a lot more than Melanie C did for her tickets and album bundle via Crash Records!

I'm guessing like Mel she will do a mixture of new songs and her classics like Torn and Shiver? I'd only be interested if that's the case as obviously won't know any of her new stuff.

Loved this chat! Very honest. She finally talked a bit more openly about Male.

The album launch shows at Banquet and Resident are sold out now 😁

The 15 copies of the Algorithm test-pressings were signed today by Nat for the lucky ones that managed to get it (I didn't ☹️)
