Brief commentary

So the Queen's reign is over. Arguably the band's greatest album, now remixed, has had a healthy 5-week stint at #1, with 4 of its tracks also charting in the top 3. What's this? Another Queen is still on top? Fair enough, but it's the promo track which continues at the tracks chart summit, while the Sabrina duet has a decent start at #7. I'm a bit concerned that all the Confessions-related hype is going to lead to a slight anti-climax by 3rd July if these 2 tracks are anything to go by, even if I Feel So Free is #1 again.

The most surprising aspect of this chart is the appearance of Melanie C, with what must be her best solo showing on the various iterations of my personal charts since at least the appearance of Carolyna in 2007. Sweat is a surprisingly marvellous album to me, as I've not invested much time into Melanie's albums since Northern Star. Could this end being my favourite solo Spice album? Schizophonic, Free Me and Hot had better watch out!

Chart rules

The Tracks chart is based on the top 20 most streamed tracks/new versions of tracks, first issued during the last 12 months. All eligible mixes are combined into one entry. The tracking period is the 4 weeks leading up to the Thursday 11:59pm before the chart issue date. No more than 3 tracks per artist album. No track can re-enter if it already spent a total of 10+ weeks on the chart during its previous run(s).

The Albums chart is based on the top 10 most streamed albums/specially re-issued albums released in the last 12 months. The tracking period is the 4 weeks leading up to the Thursday 11:59pm before the chart issue date. The number of tracks on an album I've purchased during the week leading up to the chart date is translated into the same number of streams to partially make up for them not actually being streamed/acknowledge the value of a purchase over a mere stream. These additional points are only counted on the first chart after delivery day.

Hi there Tim!

Nice to see "I Feel So Free" at the top, "Release The Pressure" in the top 5, the new peaks for "Out Of Your Mind", "Boy You Turn Me" and "Runway", the return for "I Know You're Hurting" and the debuts for "Bring Your Love" and "Undefeated Champion".

Great chart!

Take care.
