Happy to keep my Q streak going as wellWill there be any Red Cards in the big match tonight do you think? @LiamSime

July 18Jul 18 [/late] wasn't around for the results but I caught up with them later in the day and just jumped ahead to the end to see if I qualified or not as I didn't want to build any false hope lol - correct call there. Disappointed but not surprised as it seemed like a really bad semi draw from the jump, I would have needed to run the table with the people in the semi who would even feasibly ever vote for a song like this and getting nothing from the likes of Aelandor and Danæviia shows I did not manage that. I think I might have had a reasonably good chance of qualifying in the other semi but nevermind (although even in this semi I was only 6 or 7 points away, back on form with the missing out by single digits after PAON being a bit further away last month!) At least it doesn't sting quite as bad getting back-to-back DNQs this time considering it's the second time I've done that in the span of less than a year now after avoiding it for over 12 years before that, I'm thinking to send something that's probably also prone to being immediately doomed by a bad semi draw next month so gambling on doing 3 in a row while I have nothing to lose currently. The lyric from my entry that I added as my member title for the month ("why don't you let me in?") proving to be apt </3 mind you probably needed to have cranked the volume up to even realise the song had lyrics heheLovely to get three medals among the small handful of votes I did get at least, thanks muchly to @Dobbo for the gold, @pavi for the silver and @jimwatts for the bronze, and also thank you to @HarryInnanen, @matto and @leww for the other points! Pleased to see it getting a few messages of support from the other semi as well xJust commenting now as I finally got around to doing a second listen of semi 1 today so I have my full rankings of the DNQs. (I'll try and get a Q streak update posted soon although need to update my spreadsheet first again)From my semi:12 Q10 Q8 Q7 Q6 Q5 POPHub4 Q3 Q2 Q1 Deandria12th Harmonica22nd Mothertopia24th FSR Rontvia25th Altyr Muunilinst26th Lotunia28th New LexicoPOPHub being out feels like a bit of a headscratcher although it was one I felt really should have been at least a minute longer! Fine results otherwise, it was a fairly weak semi for me (my top 6 were the real highlights so only one major loss), the Poe song wouldn't have usually made it into my votes but shame to see the Deandria streak ending nonetheless. As Rich alluded to this is the first time FSR Rontvia have ever been last in a semi-final oops! Obviously didn't love the song but I am quite surprised it did that poorly. Hendinia unsurprisingly take over the record for most entries without ever coming last in a semi-final (161), although they have come last in the final twice as have FSR Rontvia - Danæviia have the record for most entries without ever coming last in either a semi or a final, 147 as of last month and I'm sure Thy Catafalque will comfortably make it 148 (that very much deserves to be nearer the other end of the scoreboard). And from my ranking of the other semi:1st Jupiterdonia 😿7th Zanmatony16th Numayania17th Ennea18th Dalisska22nd Séyetana24th Scotland 226th Vaskla29th Baleghde et al'Pyro Pyro' is a massive banger, y'all goofed on that. Real shame to see Zanmatony out too as I'd have predicted them to be fairly safe as well. Commiserations to Vaskla not quite making it with their debut but very pleased that New Helvetica did make it, I like their entry a lot (reminds me a bit of Regina Spektor) but I did think it might struggle as I thought it might not be the most instant song. Also glad the predictions of A-Konohagakure being out were wrong, we needed that iconic music video again in the final listenthrough *.*Thanks @Assy! for the hostings and graphics although boo hiss at me not getting one of the swanky boarding passes ofc x

July 20Jul 20 somewhat late but done before final results again Qualification streak update (underlined nations have matched or beaten their longest streak to date, streaks that are longer when counting non-consecutive participations are in italics where applicable): 01 66 Hendinia (non-consecutive: 71) 02 31 Aeroche 03 28 Danæviia 04 23 Neliönoir 05 22 Cor Lupus 06 21 Kluminican Republic 07 11 Fljótavík 08 9 The Spodic Empire 09 6 Bøtanikkä (non-consecutive: 7) * 09 6 Trifoski 11 5 Freidland 12 4 Bronzil 12 4 Jadakissnia 12 4 Pestolia 12 4 République d'Áskorza 12 4 Skall 12 4 Terra Avium 18 3 Aelandor 18 3 Dobago 18 3 Elëdan 18 3 Flynnonda 18 3 Kathaldazia 18 3 Land of DW 18 3 Sovarasma 18 3 Zephyra Continuum 26 2 Ajanaeda 26 2 Cheiron 26 2 Greenfroze 26 2 Herbilore 26 2 N DNTN 31 1 Aesthetica (non-consecutive: 2) 31 1 A-Konohagakure 31 1 Ben's Sanctuary 31 1 Cumulonimbia 31 1 FARC 31 1 Juranabaijan 31 1 Lentyll 31 1 Lookylion 31 1 New Helvetica 31 1 Ojnoj 31 1 Taahino 31 1 Yehesi xx (6) Dalisska xx (5) Baleghde et al xx (5) Deandria xx (5) Scotland 2 xx (4) Altyr Muunilinst xx (4) East Rukahavian ** xx (3) Séyetana xx (2) Ennea xx (1) Jupiterdonia xx (1) Summericia ** xx (1) Zanmatony* Bøtanikkä's mid-contest withdrawal from BJSC 180 is not counted as a DNQ for the purposes of this list** did not enter this contest so may resume a non-consecutive streak in the futureNot much to note at the top end again as the top 8 all continue as they were - Hendinia were already auto-qualified of course to march onto new national and overall records of 66 qualifiers in consecutive contests and 71 non-consecutive, Aeroche stay in 2nd now matching their last run of 31 in a row (5 away from matching their record from the run before that), Danæviia still 3rd and Neliönoir 4th increasing their national records to 28 and 23 respectively while Kluminican Republic and The Spodic Empire also further increase their current record runs to 21 and 9 respectively. The top 10 is back down to only containing 10 countries though - the run of previously 9th placed Dalisska came to an end, as did that of 3 of the 5 countries who had been placed joint 10th. Bøtanikkä also had an auto-qualifier to survive in the top 10 by default and Trifoski also made the cut.5 of the 11 countries who lose their streaks had been on national records (East Rukahavian may resume theirs as a non-consecutive run - if they return and qualify with their next entry they'll still match their non-consecutive record of 5, previously achieved in BJSCs 58-60 & 70-71, hopefully there won't be a 9 contest break this time!), but Freidland and Zephyra Continuum both extend theirs to 5 and 3 respectively and Herbilore get back-to-back qualifiers for the fourth time after previously doing so in BJSCs 172-173, 177-178 & 180-181, fourth time lucky to make it to 3? Finally New Helvetica qualify with their debut entry to get on the board with a 'streak' of 1.
