So 14th week without ACR for Rein Me In.... unclear if Man I Need is No. 2 again

I think it is likely, bearing in mind it was 10 on Monday and 11 on Tuesday – a couple of places ahead of HUGEL - so I’m guessing they are fairly close.

Can we stop the whole "poor Mr Brightside" thing when it hasn't earned enough to justify a reset ☠️ it derailed last week's thread so let's not start it again this week.

  • I really expected something like 1-26 for Madonna so 1-9-14 is exceptional in this day and age. Obviously she had the World Cup boost this week (all publicity is good publicity!) so it may fall a lot

  • Surprised that Rolling Stones had better second week than Madonna (7,989 vs. 7,758)

From the Music Week Chartpack

Total consumption for Rein Me In

2,084,675.

I hope Man I Need stays ahead in total until the end of the year but Rein Me In will probably overtake Man I Need

Rein Me In has been 59p on iTunes longer than it’s been number 1

That's totally irreverent. In a retail sales chart it's the price the public pay and numbers of copies sold. Last week Sam Fender sold a huge amount of expensive 7-inch sales. That would have made it top of the chart, regardless of streams. This week he sold just three. The streaming of the record would amount to a certain amount and could be as low as £0.002p a stream depending on user cost agreements. Downloads are on fixed prices. The Shakira record sold more downloads than Sam Fender and at the higher rate, which opens up the sales gap.

Sam Fender from what I have seen from Official chart figures has regularly been beaten to the top of the chart. I can't say how many times since Alan Jones has not broken down the sales figures very often of the records below the number one record. But it might be as low as ten weeks or under.

A Retail Sales chart would produce a much fairer chart and would do away with the need for ACR, invented by the OCC to simply fiddle the chart, to stop streaming keeping records from being top each week. However, it is not working.

The compilation chart is about as relevant as the cassette sales chart these days. Long overdue it was abolished. Their fan will get over it.
