Honeybee needs to be an official single, up to 4 for Olivia Rodrigo as her other 2 songs are on hold, The Cure leapfrogged by a fast-climbing Rubettes' oldie and a new entry for a 1970's US fluff TV show, The Love Boat, which was pure cheese, but this cover (looking a bit AI-ish) has a fab vocal to go with the punchy new arrangement, by who knows who (if it's actually anyone real) other than the mystery label Lowdii Beats. It would have charted earlier if I could have downloaded it, but it's annoyingly not available, so I've had to listen to it from streaming sites via blutooth mono speaker, which is nowhere as good as widescreen-sounding fancy stereo in my car or stack system. I dont know how anyone can listen to music that loses the depth and subtlety proper speakers, but then I dont put convenience ahead of my enjoyment.In a modest week for new entries, Jim Gilstrap passed away a couple of weeks ago, and his 1975 soul hit Swing Your Daddy pops back at 91. Jim might well be best known as the intro vocalist on Stevie Wonder's You Are The Sunshine Of My Life. Or not. Freddy Cannon meanwhile gets a 3rd posthumous entry with his biggest UK hit in at 99. Dai Dai almost made the UK top-spot and has belatedly given Shakira another chart hit, post-World Cup, for the first time as lead act in 12 years, and extends her chart run to 24 years. Burna Boy has only ever charted as a "featuring" before. Haircut 100 have their first new album in 44 years out, with some good singles on it, very much carrying on where they left off, the third one debuts at 98: Dynamite, is their 7th, though Nick Heyward has had many many others over the decades. Club to your arms is simply the best song this year for me. Outstanding.Oh I'm quite surprised the cure stalled at #19 this week though I suppose it didn't massively grow on you at first, that took a while as well.That is a massive fall for fate. What are the chances!? 😮Katy Perry is a good track (much better than its chart position suggests) but there's just so much good stuff around oops! I love that Love Boat track, it's the vocal that makes me suspect AI, as it very much isnt Jack Jones or the TV version, but its a proper 70's sounding soul crooner hitting all the notes perfectly in a Lou Rawls-ish fashion, but the arrangement is way better than any previous versions.
