Indie pop band Rooster have announced that they are splitting after four years together.

Members Nick Atkinson, Luke Potashnick, Dave Neale and Ben Smyth confirmed the news on their official MySpace page last week. The group are best known for their singles Come Get Some and Staring At The Sun.

"Over Christmas we've all had time to think about Rooster, the future and ourselves! Unfortunately we have all decided that now's the time to go our separate ways," the boys explained. "We've had the most amazing four years and have all loved every single minute of it.

"We feel privileged to have some of the most up for it, committed fans who were as much a part of the atmosphere at our shows as us and our music was! I'm sorry that its taken us so long to let you guys know but, as you can imagine, we didn't make this decision lightly. Hope to see some of you in the future, as we all look onwards and upwards!!"

 no surprises there. however think someone should tell the hacks at digitalspy to change the indiepop bit

should be front page news instead of all these old bands reforming. just for the smirk factor

No big loss, their last album was a catastrophic flop.

Their last album was the result of the biggest c**k up I have ever witnessed in the music industry. Brightside should be shot for how they handled it!

Who cares? And how are they Indie? They were just a 70's wannabe sounding McFly

They sound nothing like McFly ffs.

I agree they're not Indie but their first album was brilliant - the second was a disaster and I found the big 'comeback' 'Home' revolting.

They actually did make some serious music I felt not just about how sexy some girl is

McFly are finished anyway - all the teenage girls have moved onto Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance now -_-

Unlucky fellas :(

But if they want to be 1/2 decent they should come up with something that doesn't sound like manufactured MOR pop

they had a few good singles and the first album was great..but the second
The second album got postponed and was tentatively released for October. As far as I was aware it was cancelled, but all the stock had been made (we had 1000s in the office I was working in from June onwards). But I have seen it in a couple of HMVs. I guess Brightside wanted to recoup some of their losses.

I did too, I thought I was the only one  :(

I didnt rate there first album at all, but from what I heard of the second one it seemed promising
