ah, here I disagee. This track sounded so dated. Perhaps because I liked the original. Nothing about this track that stood out really.

Good countdown so far, Dave :P

I agree with Ricky, I think that Smiley Faces is better than Crazy

Three songs left to chart, but missing out this year and settling for third place its......

3 - Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child

So, they've got the number one album, however, unlike Hard-Fi last year, couldn't do the double on my chart.

This song was the 28th best selling single of 2006, peaking at number 3 in July. They are due to release their next track in March, 'Way To Go!' so expect them to appear in next years chart!!!!

Truely awesome track. Still loving it 6 months after it's release.

Taking runners-up spot for 2006 it is...

2 - Emma Bunton - Downtown

I know, its not her best single but I love it. Following a successful run on 2006's Strictly Come Dancing (robbed of the final i feel) Emma released the official Children In Need song for this year.

The first track to be taken from her less than successful thrid album 'Life In Mono', Emma is due back in the charts next month with 'All I Need To Know' plus she's pregnant (all together now ) ahhhhh

(phew, im worn out!!!!) Here it is my number one single of 2006!!!!

1 - Snow Patrol feat. Martha Wainwright - Set The Fire To The Third Bar

Really, there was no competition this year, only one song could be number one on my chart!!!

I first heard this song on Jo Whiley's show back in May, and i instantly fell in love with it. Both Gary's and Martha's stunning vocals make this track a real highlight and was the track that persuaded me to grab the album.

A beautifully haunting track, everytime i hear i stop what im doing and listen for 3 minutes, simply stunning, and i hope you will all agree.

Excellent Number 1, Dave, and one of my top tracks of last year too. I enjoyed your countdown, thanks :P

Agree, It's a beautifully haunting track. Just I have no idea what it's about. The video doesn't help either.

For me I have to have some understanding of a track, and this one make no sense to me.

Beautiful and haunting it is, but would feel 10 times better if it was a love song or something.

Avid Merrion, Davina McCall and Patsy Kensit - I Got You Babe

I loved that so much I nearly bought the single twice.
