Spin when you’re winning – Robbie Williams named National Album Day champion

The former Take That star’s 2000 studio album Sing When You’re Winning will be reissued on vinyl later this month to mark the occasion.

Former Take That singer Robbie Williams has been named as a National Album Day ambassador, saying “albums still matter”.

The 52-year-old will be given the title of Album Icon and see his 2000 studio album, Sing When You’re Winning, reissued on vinyl for the first time, for the event which takes place on October 17 and aims to celebrate and promote the art of the album.

Williams said: “Ask any artist: albums still matter. That’s why I’m happy to be part of this year’s National Album Day, celebrating the art of the album and just how important they are.

“And speaking of albums, they’re re-issuing one of mine, you might know it: Sing When You’re Winning.”

“He is an undoubted music icon and adds his powerful voice to other major artists advocating for the cultural importance of the album format.”

I was wondering when this was going to get a vinyl pressing as I've got the represses they did for Life Thru A Lens and I've Been Expecting You! I've pre-ordered this one to complete the set đŸ‘đŸ» Should also be timed quite nicely with the TOTP reruns on BBC Four on Fridays which are fast approaching the infamous episode where they showed the "Rock DJ" video for the first time!

By Nick Levine | 16 October 2026

Robbie Williams is a true British pop legend – in fact, he's the artist with the most Official UK Number 1 albums ever.

Now, ahead of National Album Day tomorrow (October 17), for which Robbie has been named an Album Icon, his most-played songs of the century on UK radio and TV have been revealed.

Robbie's emotive classic Feel – a Number 4 hit in 2002 – tops the list compiled by PPL, which licenses the use of recorded music on radio, TV and in public across the UK.

Robbie's year 2000 chart-topper Rock DJ is his second most-played song of the century, followed by his 1998 ballad Angels, which has spent 68 weeks on the Official Singles Chart – more than any other Robbie single.

According to number-crunching by PPL, Ronnie's music has accumulated more than 100,000 hours of airplay across UK radio and TV this century – that's an average of 182 plays per day, or 7.5 times every hour

Check out Robbie's Top 10 most-played songs of the century below

  1. Feel

  2. Rock DJ

  3. Angels

  4. Let Me Entertain You

  5. She's The One

  6. Candy

  7. Millennium

  8. Strong

  9. Supreme

  10. You Know Me

Peter Leathem OBE, CEO of PPL, said: "Few British artists have enjoyed the success and staying power of Robbie Williams. His record-breaking achievements speak for themselves, but what stands out is how his music continues to connect with audiences years after its release.

"This year, National Album Day celebrates music icons, and with PPL's data showing such enduring levels of airplay across radio and TV, it's easy to see why Robbie Williams remains one of the UK's most iconic artists."

National Album Day 2026 will take place tomorrow (October 17) with the theme of Icons. Alongside Robbie as Album Icon, PinkPantheress, Max Richter and Melanie C have been named Album Champions.

It's strange to see You Know Me higher than The Road To Mandalay, for example.

I agree 100% , I wonder where they got the figure as You Know Me in the top 10 makes no sense. . I would have thought No Regrets & Eternity would have been in there . It does not say played where !! thinking
