Posted Tuesday at 08:451 day Here we go again then! Following the completion of the original cover version competition (where we crowned Kylie Minogue - Better The Devil You Know), we are now back for round 2! And this time, we’ll be focussing on Steps’ album tracks that were ever so politely borrowed and recorded! You may well know some, if not all of the original versions of the album tracks Steps covered. But the goal is to find out what Buzzjack’s favourite one is! (Yes @777666jason I am looking at you in particular!)Please try and vote purely based on the merits of the original song and try not to let your love of some of Steps’ cover versions cloud your judgement!XX Sunscreen - Love U MoreXX Romeo’s Daughter - Stay With MeXX Aneta - You Make Me WholeXX Zoë Zana - You Make Me WholeXX Anders | Fahrenkrog - No More Tears On The DancefloorXX Lara Fabian - I Will Love AgainXX Ask Embla - Father’s EyesXX Mariette - A Million YearsXX Lina Hedlund - VictoriousXX Marvin Gaye - Too Busy Thinking About My BabyXX Sybil - Make It Easy On MeXX Bananarama - Movin’ OnXX The Three Degrees - The RunnerXX ABBA - Dancing QueenXX ABBA - Lay All Your Love On MeXX Slade - Merry Xmas EverybodyRulesRate the songs between 00-10..5 scores will be allowed. You may give ONE 11 if you so wish.No -1 votes are allowed. Please post your votes in this thread.I will be posting the videos / streaming links for each song below in due course for you all to listen to. Obviously feel free to use other methods if you so wish.- The Anders | Fahrenkrog song is not available on streaming so will have to be YouTubed- There are 2 versions of You Make Me Whole’ on the list as they were seemingly released at very similar times. So in the interest of fairness, both have been included.- As the whole album is essentially a load of (naff ) covers, you’ll be glad to hear I’ve decided not to include anything from Light Up The WorldEnjoy and get rating :)Closing date : Saturday 31st October

22 hours ago22 hr Author Also, blame Steps but apologies for making you endure a Christmas song in October
22 hours ago22 hr 06 Sunscreen - Love U MoreI actually enjoy the ‘hardcore’ version by DJ Paul. It’s also the version I got the know first when I was a kid. Not bad, but the original is missing a bit of an ‘umph’ to me.04 Romeo’s Daughter - Stay With MeA typical, and boring, pop/rock song to me. 06 Aneta - You Make Me WholeAlready a cheesy and campy song in this version. Not bad, not exciting either.6.5 Zoë Zana - You Make Me WholeI prefer this one a little bit more. It’s a bit fresher then Aneta her version.06 Anders | Fahrenkrog - No More Tears On The DancefloorThis is giving me Modern Talking/a group of daddies going to ESC in 2009. It’s bad, but somehow not THAT bad.08 Lara Fabian - I Will Love AgainYes, lovely cheese from miss Fabian. I also understand why Steps covered this one. Only the ‘Celine’ parts are a bit ‘meh’.05 Ask Embla - Father’s EyesThis sounds like a dated ESC-entry.07 Mariette - A Million YearsThis also sounds like an ESC-entry but a lot less dated. Not bad!7.5 Lina Hedlund - VictoriousLina! And I have a soft spot for the Steps version. This one is made for le homoseksuals and I like. Though it has a little less ‘umph’ to me then the Steps version.9.0 Marvin Gaye - Too Busy Thinking About My BabyYes, lovely and upbeat soul song! In this rate I prefer the Steps versions most of the times. In this case..why did they bother to cover this song??6.5 Sybil - Make It Easy On MeNot bad, not great.08 Bananarama - Movin’ OnThere was a big difference between both versions with Last thing if you ask me. In this case I enjoy both.6.5 The Three Degrees - The RunnerNot my favorite by them. Still, not a bad song.10 ABBA - Dancing QueenOverplayed? Yes! Classic? Yes!9.5 ABBA - Lay All Your Love On MeLay all your Abba on me!6.5 Slade - Merry Xmas EverybodyA bit overplayed and repetitive, but for sure a nice Christmas song. I like that it’s not a typical one the most. Edited 21 hours ago21 hr by JB
21 hours ago21 hr My ratings are up actually! It was fun doing this as I listened to some originals a lot better because of this rating.
