^^ I agree with Kelly Clarkson, although you could guess by my name :)

I think this is a horrible idea.

It should be NEW music in the chart, not old stuff!

These new rules are F-ing everything up.

Do we really want a top 10 full of Beatles songs?

Chart wrongs righted in name of charity

Source: Music Week

A new website launches today, aiming to exploit new chart rules in the name of charity.

The site, www.itshouldhavebeennumber1.co.uk, aims to give singles that missed the top spot a second chance to top the charts.

Oasis’ Roll With It, which lost out on the number one slot to Blur’s Country House in the famous Britpop singles battle, is the first single to be given the site’s support.

I nominate Robbie's Angels - that should definitely have been #1!

Overall this is a very bad idea, though.

That's getting a re-release for 2007,

Seriously? Then I'm emigrating!

What an utterly stupid idea. Its only saving grace is that it may make some money for charity.

None of the songs listed deserved to be No.1 because they weren't the biggest selling song in the week they were out!

I'm sure Robbie is not losing much sleep that Angels didn't make No.1 or that Noel is depressed because one of his singles only made <oh no> "only" No.2!

Lets get some new music in the charts. People whinge when Westlife et al take a cover to No.1.....this is worse!

I'll put a slight disclaimer on my above post and say that maybe "Groove is in the Heart" deserved No.1 lol :P
Coldplay, Texas and Embrace should have had at least one #1 single.

Yes it is, its also used in the new TV Daz Commercial

Yes, but it's hardly worthy of number one  You can't even compare it to the songs in this thread, sorry :P

This was number 1 in 1963 for Gerry & The Pacemakers.

They were the first act to reach #1 with their first 3 releases and this record stood for 21 years until 1984.

This single was the third of the trio of #1s

In a word YES!

What's wrong with older music in the charts - if it's good.

80% of todays music is utter rubbish - McSh!te - Pestlife - R&B - Hip-Hop - and things like Crazy Frog.

The problem is that old music has already BEEN in the charts. Its out there if you want to go and listen to it. Why take up places that could be filled by new artists and new music that would otherwise be missed because the Top 10 is full of old Beatles tracks.

Coldplay, Texas and Embrace should have had at least one #1 single.

Texas should have had at least 3 No.1's

Say What you want and In our lifetime are amazing songs

Songs that SHOULD of got to #1:

Anastacia - Im Outta Love

Anastacia - Left Outside Alone

Anastacia - You'll Never Be Alone    Charted at fukin #31 though :arrr:

:lame:

Yeah let's make a list of songs by our favourite artists and claim that they should have been number 1's.

The whole idea of getting old songs to number 1 is a complete joke. They've had their time and their chance and clogging up the singles chart with old songs is making it look even more ridiculous than it is currently.

maybe Vienna by Ultravox should get the #1 it deserved!

I agree with you there.

THAT song more than any other truly deserved to be No.1!

Cruelly robbed of getting the top position by Joe Dolce in '81, it was released again in 1993 and peaked at No.13 (unlucky for some).

As for this campaign, it might get a song back into the Top 20 (like Honey To The Bee did), but i can't see it getting a song anywhere near the upper reaches.

Then again....it is for charity and it hasn't got the ego of breakfast show DJ behind it.

:lame:

Your lame  Anyone else could see I was joking

Alot of older Madonna tracks: Material Girl, Like A Virgin, Holiday etc should have been number 1 xxxx

Crazy For You definately should have been a No.1, it peaked at No.2 both in 1985 and again in 1991.

Erm, thanks for that, very interesting I'm sure.

Amen!
