Also it is spending its 100th week on the chart there.

 

Does anyone know of any other single that has spent 100 weeks on the chart anywhere in the world in 1 chart run(except for Canada)?

 

It's not happened in the UK where the record is 122 weeks. This was My Way by Frank Sinatra over about 6 chart runs. In the UK the record is 56 weeks in a single chart run and that was Release Me by Engelbert Humperdink in 1967/8.

for consecutive weeks, none that comes to mind. My Way did it in the UK but that wasn't consecutive weeks. In the US the record is 69 (consecutive) weeks. In the UK it's a mere 56 weeks...

 

Unless Shakira is still in the top 200 at the end of this year with hips don't lie :rofl: ;)

Might happen in the distant future in the UK now songs aren't removed after a year.

though that won't count, the UK charts is still stuck at a top 75 - though she did manage 36 weeks, a record for a female singer...

I was hoping Shakira might have broken the 40 week barrier, unfortunately it's not likely to happen now...

You might like to check out the statistics for the "Jupiter" single by Ayaka Hirahara (catalogue number MUCD-5046). Released on 2003-12-17, it first appears in the Oricon chart dated 2004-01-12. To date it has had a total of 145 weeks in the charts (highest position of 2) including an initial chart run (if my week count is correct) of 122 weeks. This chart run is in respect of the Japanese Top 200. The CDTV website gives a Top 100 chart run of 82 weeks.

It has now been in the top three for 74 consecutive weeks - 40 weeks at number 1, 30 weeks at number 2 and 4 weeks at number 3!

 

 

Thanks to CZB at ukmix for the chart run and comments - they were posted on December 23 last year so I assume the chart run has continued on beyond the last 3 week run at #1.

That's one hell of a chart run, :o after 2 months in the top 3 I would have lost the plot, I'm glad I don't live in Denmark. :lol:

They must have all signed up to download the track every week without noticing :lol:
Candle In The Wind spent ages in the chart in Canada. According to wikipedia, it spent 3 years in the Top 20 including 45 weeks at No.1 :rolleyes:
