Retaining all the playful boy-bashing of her previous albums, whilst also marking a progression into more sophisticated areas (as heard on her ballad 'Keep Holding On', the theme song from the recent blockbuster film Eragorn), 'The Best Damn Thing' features the first single 'Girlfriend', a perfectly sculpted pop moment that borrows the cheerleading frivolity of Toni Basil's 'Mickey', in a delightfully shocking way.

'The Best Damn Thing' is the third album from Canadian punk-pop princess Avril Lavigne. Produced by Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, P!nk), husband Deryck Whibley (Sum 41), Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance), Butch Walker and herself, 'The Best Damn Thing' also features Travis Barker (Blink 182, +44) on drums.

Released: April 2nd 2007

She's back and better with ever - with an album packed full of punchy pop gems like this, to moving ballads.

Visit Avril's forum for more news on the album + single :D

I'm going to be optimistic and say #4 or #5.

Should do fairly well as its a comeback.

It sounds like a cross between Green Day's American Idiot & Toni Basil's Mickey - it will probaly be just as big ....

#2 behind Peter Kay & Matt Lucas – I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).

good, nothing amazing, but will probably grow.

Tommy Heavenly6 does this type of music FAR better thoug, imo

it might be her huge comback or just a hugr flop

#1 for ne

A DANCE routine? Well that's something I never expected. :o Loving it all the same.

I want #1, but will settle for #4. ^_^

I really really hope this song isn't typical of the rest of her new album!! Judging by this, she seems to have gone a step back from "Under My Skin"

She says it all in the song: It's so stupid - what the hell were you thinking!

OMG The video is awesome! :o  I love it!

This'll go top 5 I reckon :D Best thing she's ever done!

I hate it...

Hopefully it will struggle to climb to the Top 5...

She f·#%&ing said that she would never do anything like britney psears... a dance routine??????

Under my Skin was a great album.... but Girlfriends is a loudsy first single.... I'm sure I'll hate this new era... (My Opinion)

It's catchy, and its the first time I've heard it, but its not her best could grown on me after a few more listens, can't really compare it to the beautiful 'My Happey Ending' to be honest it will struggle to get top 10, I say top 15 the least.
she's acting like Britney, no wonder the comments on youtube about the video are 90% negative. Still, I quite enjoy is myself, #9
She's taking the p*** though...the music, the dance routine...

Think you'll find the whole song is pretty much a pisstake at the so called 'popular, cheerleaders' hence the dance routine etc.

The three clips of songs that have leaked and also Keep Holding On are nothing like this record more a mix of songs from both the previous albums but more polished. She herself has stressed that after being so serious and deep on the last album she wanted to comeback with a song that was fun and catchy - one that people would dance too more than praise for the lyrics/vocals etc.
