I don't want to be turned straight though.

It's not an illness or disease that should be 'cured'. <_<

People are born gay I think, you don't just turn gay, the guy has mental problems I think if he can "cure" gays, all the gays I know are proud of what they are

thats bollox.... you are what you are

But he claims he can cure gay people because he

suceeded in curing himself so now he's a ex-gay

and straight for the rest of his life, I think that might interest alot

of parents that want their children or someone they know to be "Cured"

Yes I believe being gay is genetic, you have to have a gay gene in you to be gay or bi sexual, I don't believe anyone just wakes up one morning and decides to be a homosexual, It is a while since I have had a shag but that don't mean I am going to turn gay reason being I don't have any gay genes in me, women who decide to come lesbians, see my point above, they must have had bi genes in them.

Imo, I think being gay is nature and nurture. Perhaps a bit of gentic pre-determination and the product and influence of upbringing?

Either way, that bloke in the clip is a total deluded idiot. <_>

From my own experience I have never even at ages of early puberty ever been interested in a female for more than just casual company.

I read this book which claims all human beings are born bisexual and how things that happen in early years of life can effect ones sexuality. I tend to take that view but then again I did used to find it ironic that that old rhyme 'Monday's child etc etc' I was born on a Sunday and look at me

And this guy claims to have cured himself?

I suspect an individual too afraid to accept his sexuality so hides behind stupid magic tricks and is probably shacked up with some woman to try and convince himself and the world he's straight. :smoke:

Yep, classic case of self delusion. He could well have 'illicit' thoughts about men late at night, when his mind is free of its mental barriers...

It's a shame people have to run from who they are in such an odd obsessive manner. :(

But come to think of it - do you think you could ACTUALLY be hypnotised into not finding the same sex attractive?

Well, maybe people could be hynotised into putting up mental bloks when they find the same sex attractive - a kind of double think perhaps? Sounds a bit dubious to me though, and I have never been convinced that hypnotism would work in the long term anyway.

Well I have little memory trickles and I seem to remember a book I read once where they put people into some state of hypnosis and put them in a chair and showed them naked images of men and women and if they became aroused by the same sex they got some kind of shock as if to say if you think like that about another man/woman you're gonna get frizzled.

Aah, association of undesirable images or sensations with pain? Yes, thats a kind of hypnosis. That way forces your brain to not think along the undesired lines at all. So, more turning people celibate/asexual rather than straight. Scary!

Sounds like something the Catholic religion would descend upon in mass droves.

Very intriguing topic though. I see these human hypnosis shows sometimes because my friend watches them.

I'm not sure if I believe in it :(

Hypnosis is all about the power of suggestion, I reckon. That Darren Brown is well good!

It's an interesting question.

History shows at times it's normal to be gay or bi-sexual, that implies to me that what sexual preference we have is all about social conditioning and nothing to do with genes.

That exactly what i think

I'm with you on this one Jester. I believe most things in life are a combination of nature and nurture.
