Seems in other sport such a blatant flaunting of rules would result in slightly more serious punishment - I mean it is not like the team didn't know the rules about tyres!

It can't be that much of a well known rule if three teams broke it and the World Champion (Hamilton's main rival) has come out and defended him.

Disqualified?!

THAT would make the whole thing a joke. The three drivers that did it all recieved the same penalty making any advantage they'd get cancelled out. Not only that but they'd gain no advantage anyway as it's not likely to rain at all for Qualifying and the Race. So what benefit would they have by running an extra set of wet tyres? Absolutely none. Also, Alonso has said he wasn't aware of the rule either and would probably have done the same. You break a rule, you get a punishment that fits the crime. Sato, Hamilton & Button broke the rule and they've just recieved a punishment to fit their crime.

McLaren & the other teams in question did nothing wrong other than break some minor technicality infringement due to a change in the rules from last season to this. So they (wrongly) thought that because they did not do a full "racing" lap as opposed to the "installation" lap that they did before realizing that they were on the wrong type of tires for the conditions of the track as they had previously been able to do so for the last 20+ seasons, so therefore you think those drivers should be thrown out of the race.

How ridiculous.

It stinks though

Ralf Schumacher got a 0.5 seconds penalty added to his best qualifying time in Monaco for doing the very same thing, that happened in FP1 too so why is it fair to apply this penalty to Ralf and not to Hamilton, Button and Sato ? the rules have been bent or totally waived this season so that Bernie's pockets can be lined by a Hamilton title. Hamilton, Button and Sato should have got the same 0.5 secs penalty as Ralf got at Monaco

It is a very very hollow championship win if he wins this season no matter how well he has driven, while he may have done a great job on the track off the track at best it is Hamilton bias by officialdom and at worst outright corruption

Tell that to Ralf Schumacher ;)

Ummmm.

The same old story :manson:

Hope today Hamilton does bad and crash -_- he deserves it. ( but any big illness or summin LOL )

forgive my ignorance

but when these teams invest millions of ££££ into the season don't you think they would have taken a little time to read the rules.

Of course they did so of course whatever they did was intentional. I have no idea what advantage this would give but even the attempt to gain an advantage by ANY means other than skill should be punished - whether or not it is the drivers fault - it is he who gains the advantage.

Any advantage gained from it would have been incredibly minute so the punishment given (the fine) fits the rule break...

Do you think given what happened to Ralf Schumacher that had it just been Sato and Button yesterday and not Hamilton too that the penalty would have been the same

I doubt it tbh

 Yes let's wish a big illness on someone.

I hope Hamilton stuffs Alonso, and then Alonso can go and cry to his mummy

If you had any sense you'd realise Alonso has LESS chance of winning if that happens. If Hamilton is unable to take part in the race Massa will take Alonso out leaving Kimi to stroll to victorry in both the race and Championship.

I just wish he crashes and he can't drive in the race, anything more.

You actually are a biased idiot.

You actually are a biased idiot.

She is entitled to her opinion Dan ! show some respect !

Like you are not biased towards Chelsea eh ? :manson:

I don't give a damn if it's her opinion, why should i respect her for wanting someone to crash in an F1 car which could result in serious injury.
