I've finally heard this version and I don't think the song is the same without the rap..I like that part, especially the "eh eh" from Rihanna in the background during it. :) It just goes well.

I agree, Rihanna sounds 10x better after the rap :D

This song is 19 years old. I’ve never really actually thought about the lyrics properly… until now, thanks to this Tik Tok…

I-

GAGGED.

I’ve genuinely never put two and two together until that 🫠 my innocent mind?! This is still the ultimate Rihanna song for me though it’s never gotten old and I still play it very regularly. I think you could argue We Found Love might be bigger these days but I think was the hit what made her an icon and transformed her career into putting her on the A-List map where she’s remained since.

Also… 10 weeks at #1?! On sales only has any other track done this since I know we’ve had many a long running #1 since but I know streaming’s been to thank for a lot of those staying at the top. (As sales are way lower) but I’m curious!

Yeah this is THE ultimate example of a song to launched someone from a star to SUPERSTAR overnight imo. It’s THE pop moment.

I really think someone like Tyla has it in her to deliver something as big as this that will send her stratospheric!

This is such a timeless classic. Even 19 years on! Like, it could be released today and be as big a chart force as it was back then! Incredible stuff.
