And what a corker our 19th no.1 is! The Arctic Monkeys return with the incredible 'Brianstorm', arguably their best single to date.. and their first TOTB no.1 out of 3 attempts. The change at the top means Maximo Park's 'Our Velocity' has to settle for 2nd, and TOTB debutants Klaxons enter straight in at no.3 with the brilliant 'Gravity's Rainbow' (The one I hated a fortnight ago). March 26, 200718 yr Author So, to celebrate a year in the business, all this week im going to be doing individual top tens celebrating some of the best songs ever to grace the chart!) So, tonight it's time to countdown the ten best no.1s! http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/3481/votwtw7.png 1 Razorlight - America Still my favourite song to ever be included in the chart. Also currently the lonest running no.1 and most successful song ever - racking up well over 300 points in almost 6 months 2 Fratellis - Whistle For The Choir Came so close to equalling the six-week record, and yet as the release date loomed ever closer, I had no choice but to cut its reign a week short. Still adore this one, though, and it did spend a very respectable 3 1/2 months in the chart! 3 Maximo Park - Our Velocity My favourite song of 2007 so far? Could well be. Only just been replaced at the top after a cool 4 weeks on the throne. Oh, and the video kicks all sorts of arse as well 4 Keane - Nothing In My Way A paltry one week at the top.. what the hell was I thinking?!?! Anyway, this was their 3rd no.1 and the best single they released from 'Under The Iron Sea', so easily the most deserved of their releases 5 Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars Snow Patrol's most successful single is also one of my favourites by them. And that means a lot, seeing as how they're probablies my favourite band. 4 weeks at no.1, and about 4 months inside the top 10! 6 Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm Wasn't gonna include this seeing as how its only just topped the chart, but it's an absolute blinder of a tune. Continues to grow on me weeks after originally hearing it, which means hopefully it'll chart a bit higher for the 2nd birthday celebration! :lol: 7 Primal Scream - Country Girl In retrospect, perhaps I should have made this enter straight in at no.1 instead of queueing it behind Snow Patrol, and maybe not dumped it out of the chart after about 9 weeks, but still a class song that gets me singing along every time 8 The Killers - Read My Mind Definately my favourite song by The Killers. 5 weeks at the top this year, and a mile ahead of any of the other songs charting at that time.. hopefully should spend a few more weeks in the top ten before I have to write it off :( 9 The View - Same Jeans I'll admit it's lost some of its original charm due to excessive overplay, but its still an absolute belting tune, and really got the year off to a flying start when it topped my chart back on New Year's day! 10 The Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way Hmmm.. maybe 4 weeks at the top was a little generous, considering the superior 'Naive' didn't even peak inside the top 3, but this tune always reminds me of summer, and was undenyably a good follow-up from a pretty average album
