Posted April 4, 200718 yr Liverpool pretty much through after last night but both Man Ure and Chelski losing. Scholes sent off too, a lot to do!
April 4, 200718 yr Liverpool were brilliant last night. PSV had a game plan and Liverpool managed to break it, even if PSV were very very poor overall. Man Utd are gonna have a tough time against Roma now...
April 4, 200718 yr Paul Scholes was absolutely RIDICULOUS. He was clearly sent to rough them up a bit but 6/7 late challenges in 30 minutes was phenomonal even by his standards. If we keep the goal difference at 1 then we should be able to pull it back at Old Trafford. Let them get 2 or more infront and we're gone!
April 4, 200718 yr I've got to be honest that out of Chelsea & Man Utd, I fancy Man Utd to reach the Semi-Finals after Rooney's brilliant goal, set up by Ronaldo. I just hope the Football story tomorrow morning is not all about Man Utd & their supporters after Alex Ferguson's inflammatory comments about Rome, their fans & the police force & authorities before-hand. Yet again I think Alex Ferguson has allowed his hatred of Liverpool & their historic healthy relationship with Roma FC & the greatest capital city in Europe to cloud his normally brilliant managerial experience. For the sake of English Football, much as I'd love to see a Liverpool v Man Utd final (with the mighty Reds making it 6-2), I'd fear the outcome around the city of Athens & in the Olympiad stadium terraces if that match becomes the final.
April 4, 200718 yr Valencia  and Roma  to think us mighty Boro boys beat Roma last season :cheer:
April 4, 200718 yr Anyone see Valencias goal against us? One of the best goals i've seen this season.
April 4, 200718 yr Fighting mars Man Utd's Rome trip BBC News 22:10 UK Manchester United's Champions League match against Roma was marred by violence involving supporters before and during the game. Local media reported clashes between fans as they made their way to the Olympic Stadium in Rome. During the game United fans clashed with police wielding batons. Manchester United warned fans before the game they could be attacked by Roma supporters, sparking criticism from Rome's mayor. Local media reported that five people were injured in clashes as fans made their way to the stadium. Riot police It was reported that three were English, one was from Rome and another was from Italy's security forces. The trouble reportedly occurred near two bridges - the Ponte Milvio and the Ponte Duca d'Aosta. During the game, which Roma won 2-1, both sets of fans could be seen throwing missiles at each other. The two sets of supporters were separated in one section of the ground by a barrier with riot police gathered on the Manchester United side. After each goal both sets of fans surged towards the barrier. At one stage, riot police with shields and batons were seen repeatedly striking Manchester United supporters. One female fan was seen being pushed in the face by a police officer while another supporter was repeatedly struck with a baton as he lay on the floor. The police got involved with a baton charge and all hell broke loose - you had seats being thrown at the police Man Utd fan TV pictures showed one Manchester United fan with blood pouring from his face as others tried to pick him up. BBC Five Live commentator Alan Green, said during the game: "United fans appeared to charge the police and the police went in. "It got pretty vicious. We're about 80 yards away but it seems to have quietened down now. "We've just heard a loud crash and there is smoke over there. It is very, very nasty inside this ground now. "I don't know if the Roma fans started this but they are happy now as it is between the police and the United fans." A Manchester United fan inside the ground told BBC Five Live trouble started when Manchester United's Paul Scholes was sent off. 'Missiles' "At the time of the sending off there were missiles exchanged between fans and after the Roma goal their fans charged the United section," he said. "The police got involved with a baton charge and all hell broke loose. You had seats being thrown at the police. "Most of the missiles being thrown are bottles which are being sold inside the ground. The number of riot police has probably tripled. "You really don't know what is going to happen next." Around 5,000 United fans had bought tickets for the game but a further 1,000 were expected to travel without tickets. Violent reputation Before the game Manchester United fans were warned in letters and on the club's website to avoid certain areas of the city as they could be attacked by Roma's hardcore 'ultra' fans. They were warned to avoid using Rome's underground network to reach the Olympic Stadium, and to also keep away from the Ponte-nenni bridge and the Campo de Fiori. The city's mayor Walter Veltroni criticised Manchester United officials and said the advice could create a "negative climate". Italian football has a reputation for violence among its fans. In February the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) suspended all matches after a policeman was killed at a Serie A game between Catania and Palermo. Three Middlesbrough fans were stabbed and 10 others hurt during fights with Roma fans at the Uefa quarter finals last year.

April 4, 200718 yr I've just seen the Police baton charge & the indiscriminate assaults on the Manchester Utd supporters (on Sky) = I'm disgusted with what I'm seen, it is completely & utterly out of order. I now think that Roma should be immediately chucked out of the European Champions League as a result. But no doubt as UEFA is in the alleged control of the Italian Payolla (aka the Mafiosi), they will no doubt punish Machester Utd instead.
April 4, 200718 yr It was all planned Roma only put coppers in the United section, which is seperated with a massive sheet of glass, so whatever the Roma fans did, they'd never get attacked by the police cos there wasn't any!! it's a disgrace i hope we pour petrol and the bast*rd's and set them alight http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/2wDoAJD8qZBu5btUE Edited April 4, 200718 yr by This Charming Man
April 5, 200718 yr I actually think that Chelsea have a harder task now than Man U. Manu U will go home and only need a 1-0 win- i can see them winning by more though! Chelsea need to win away which is never that easy! Valencia already have an away goal too!
April 5, 200718 yr The violence yesterday was really bad! They have to do something about it before someone else gets killed or we have another Hillsborough disaster! I think it's Hillsborough? Correct me if i'm wrong!
April 5, 200718 yr Heysel Always Italians it's because their Ultras control the grounds, they employ the Stewards and tell the police where and where they can't go in the stadium but not one will come to Manchester, cowards 18 injured 6 stabbings
April 5, 200718 yr The Italians do it again  Maybe they bribed the Police as well this time
April 5, 200718 yr The police is ordered about by the Ultras i'm in the right mind to go and paste one in Manchester on Tuesday
April 5, 200718 yr Breaking News on Radio5 Live: The Chairman of Roma has said that Manchester United should be chucked out of the European Cup for their fans behaviour, as it was not the first time this season that their fans have got into trouble. They & the Italian FA are going to UEFA to ask them to consider their request. That has to be the most unbelievable thing I have heard this year. The F'in cheek of the Italians. As the Kaiser Chiefs once sung "I Predict A Riot, I Predict A Riot...." for next Tuesday's return leg at Old Trafford.
