I'm pleased for Timbaland, but I love the Mark Ronson song too, so either being at number one would make me happy.

 

A lot of people on here, and elsewhere, were predicting Gareth would miss the charts, because there were only a handful of fans that cared, so big promotional push or not, his position is good. It seems as if his media promotion has picked up speed, which is indicative of two things:

 

1. The media themselves are impressed, which we know is true, because he got quite a few invites as a direct result of being seen on Jonathon Ross, and

2. The people promoting him are still interested, so they must be happy enough with how well he has been doing.

 

I've said a lot of this in the Gareth thread in the Pop forum, but Gareth hasn't made any secret that this single was a re-introduction for him, a bit of a warm-up single. Lessons will be learnt for him and his management, and successes can be built on for next time. He admitted that it was important for him to get across his personality, and he has done a good job of that. This round of promotion has unlocked a lot of doors, which will hopefully be open for him for the next single.

 

I reckon they'll be well pleased with this result as he is re-positioning himself and has had zero airplay on top. Loads of artists are charting very low at the moment with great airplay. I like the track but agree it is not an obvious lead single. He's a fantastic singer and musician and hopefully will be able to really showcase this with the next single.

Sorry to disappoint you Val but I didn't know dindy was on about. Thanks for twigging my memory I do remember the article now. Like other fans I thought I'd missed some Will performances.

 

Much better than being in the kiddy mags especially when your music is more aimed at the adult market.

I don't know how people can call Arctic Monkeys overhyped $h!t when atleast it's shown some innoative to it and they're a great band and they deserve all the hype they get imo.

Possibly, but I'm sure I've seen Will featured quite a bit in the kiddies mags too. At least the ones my niece buys :lol:

 

Perhaps Gareth's management haven't thought of the free papers on the airlines yet, the way Will's did. Or maybe they have and its just early days yet :D

I love how Gareth fans are treating his no 12 song with very modest sales as a wonderful hit. This is the first song from an album that won't be out until July! I reckon it could sell 10,000 or so by the end of the week. Honestly, I can't see how that's not a total disaster, given all the promo and advertisments that have been paid for. To release a song just to confirm that Gareth is back and he can speak, and he does have a personality doesn't compute for me. He's coming back as a singer/songwriter - not a personality - but the song is just not good enough. End of. No-one knew or cared whether Mika had a personality or not, he released a great song and people bought it, and then they found out about Mika. Things have to be music led surely???
