April 12, 200719 yr I agree with no airplay, now the signings are over & the massive media exposure stops. Its no more massive than Will and others have had in the past, except that Gareth is not getting the massive support from Airplay and the Music channels the way others always do. Although I'm sure you'll have a selective memory and say differently. I'm happy with the results so far considering those factors. Edited April 12, 200719 yr by val4jadan

Although I'm sure you'll have a selective memory and say differently. I'm happy with the results so far considering those factors. I agree Will has always been promoted very well. But while we are on selective memory I clearly remember Will fans being accused of multi buying it pales into insignificance with Gareth's fans buying over 10 copies. Doesn't really give a true picture of sales. Downloads show the general public interest & that says it all. I agree with the previous poster who wasn't jumped upon. It will drop like a stone next week. Anyway as long as Gareth & his fans are happy that's all that matters. Edited April 12, 200719 yr by truly talented
April 12, 200719 yr Here you go Luc: Read My Mind Top 50 Sams Town Top 20 Hot Fuss nearly Top 40! :o :cheer: Thanks Matt!
April 12, 200719 yr I'm delighted at the promotion of Gareth, but would far rather heard him being played on any radio station than seeing him speaking for a few minutes on any TV station. He hasn't yet hit the dizzy heights of the Sky Waves where Will was promoted and I hope his management refrain from that. Downloading of course may affect Gareth's position at the end of the week and I had hoped that the person who would be reluctant to pop in to physically buy Gareth's single may have downloaded it but without airplay those people aren't hearing it to encourage them. Even if Gareth does plummet next week at least I will have enjoyed the surprise position for this. :yahoo: Edits to say good luck Mark Ronson for Sunday. He has done brilliantly. April 12, 200719 yr Gareth will deffo be getting airplay on Sunday for the Chart Show lol Oh yes thanks. I don't know if he will make the Hit40UK chart though as that includes airplay. Is that the chart most people listen to or is the Radio 1 still the official one?
April 12, 200719 yr gareth has done massive promo work a week or 2 weeks in advance of the release appearing everywhere on tv shows and radio and doing signings to encourage sales. it usually works in the first week of release reaching the core "fanbase" (mcfly do this alot) and his fanbase was huge, it doesn't matter if airplay and exposure is limited on music channels and radio if you back up your release with a big promo campaign cause tv audiences and fanbases are powerful too and can make up the difference so gareth should be doing much better than just top15 considering his high level of exposure. the second week i reckon he willl fall big like mcfly singles, singles need strong legs otherwise you enter the "dangerzone" :o yes the "dangerzone" :( aka the "dropzone" aka "dumpsville"
April 12, 200719 yr No they dont, Radio 1's chart gets slightly more. It doesn't. It did for a bit last year but not any more.
April 12, 200719 yr The last report After losing out to Radio 1's Official Chart Show in the last audience survey for the very first time in over a decade, hit40uk has climbed back up to become the nation's favourite chart show once again. The latest audience figures were released last Thursday, and coincided with the relaunch of the show, with Capital Radio drivetime's Lucio taking over Simon Hirst as presenter, and with EMAP's Big City Network stations replacing the Galaxy Network. hit40uk recorded over 400,000 more listeners compared to Radio 1, with 2,265,000 of the national audience tuning in. With the addition of the EMAP stations, hit40uk forecasts that this will boost the figures to more than 2.4 million.
April 12, 200719 yr He hasn't yet hit the dizzy heights of the Sky Waves where Will was promoted and I hope his management refrain from that. I don't understand this comment <_< Will has only ever done a signing - and that was for his first album - I don't think it's his thing. Anyway - good luck to Gareth, not a bad position - but I'm surprised he's sold only just over 5,000 so far - given all the promo and, of course, the signings - and the multi-downloading and purchasing.
April 12, 200719 yr :o Im suprised at Gareth being inside the top 15 I thought he was over not a bad song thow Im suprised Bekira isn't #1 mind you Timbaland has 2 major fans buying his single ..
April 12, 200719 yr I'm pleased for Timbaland, but I love the Mark Ronson song too, so either being at number one would make me happy. A lot of people on here, and elsewhere, were predicting Gareth would miss the charts, because there were only a handful of fans that cared, so big promotional push or not, his position is good. It seems as if his media promotion has picked up speed, which is indicative of two things: 1. The media themselves are impressed, which we know is true, because he got quite a few invites as a direct result of being seen on Jonathon Ross, and 2. The people promoting him are still interested, so they must be happy enough with how well he has been doing. I've said a lot of this in the Gareth thread in the Pop forum, but Gareth hasn't made any secret that this single was a re-introduction for him, a bit of a warm-up single. Lessons will be learnt for him and his management, and successes can be built on for next time. He admitted that it was important for him to get across his personality, and he has done a good job of that. This round of promotion has unlocked a lot of doors, which will hopefully be open for him for the next single.
April 12, 200719 yr :o Im suprised at Gareth being inside the top 15 I thought he was over not a bad song thow Im suprised Bekira isn't #1 mind you Timbaland has 2 major fans buying his single .. Beyonce 7 Shakira are charting on downloads alone, the single goes physical next week

April 12, 200719 yr How on earth has Gareth Grates climbed to #12. :o Does he really have that many obsessive fans who'll buy up on stock all week?
