I can assure you the NHS is far, far healthier now than it was then. Still a long way from acceptable, but infinitely better than it was.

Hmm, I dunno mate, I think it's in just as bad a state now as it was during Thatch tbh... Nu Labour has done nothing about the rampant bureaucracy, the seven tiers of admin and management soaking up the dosh that should be controlled by doctors and nurses for patient care, morale amongst NHS staff is at an all-time low (Paticia Hewitt has now been given several roastings at nurses conferences in recent years..), nurses are leaving the profession in droves forcing the NHS to draft in temps from sodding South East Asia ffs.... No, Lucy is actually right, B-Liar is talking out his arse...

craig..... thatcher is the most unpopular pm of recent times, she may have won elections but thats because the opposing vote was split... the facts are that more people voted against her then for her.

Very true.... 37% of the vote is hardly a majority is it...? Only a third or so of the country (and that's just the ones who do actually vote) actually thinks your policies are correct.... It's not a ringing endorsement by any stretch of the imagination

Same could be said for the current regime though, certainly in the last 2 elections B-Liar has received no more of the popular vote than that

Going back to the NHS private medicine is a good thing as it takes people out of the NHS and reduces the number of people that need to rely on the NHS for treatment so that in theory should result in falling waiting lists as less people use the NHS but hospitals are a mess at the moment, I am going to need to have floating bone cleared out of my knee in the next few months and I am sure glad that I am having it done privately as I really am paranoid about the idea I could get MRSA if I went NHS

The only reason MRSA is now a problem is because your wonderful fukkin' Tory Party buried its head in the sand in the early 90s and refused to see a potential hazard..... <_< Oh, and the small, minor detail of contracting out of Hospital cleaning sevices to the lowest fukkin' dodgy, corner-cutting bidders..... Yeah, great idea that one, because you can cut corners with hygeine in a sodding Hospital cant you.....? <_<

As to your first point, you wont hear me defending the current regime mate.. When have I ever been a cheerleader for Tory B-Liar....?

oh my where to start replying!!! lol

baytree.... the romans had the right idea... build a bloody great wall to keep you lot OUT! lol

russ....... i agree, tory voters are fascists by default! well, thatcher voters anyway. and yes the health service IS in a better state then it was previously.

Still a fascist ?? yeah right

What would the following really achieve?

4) School day extended...in winter day from 7.30-4 - most jobs tend to stay at 8:30-5 even in winter, and I can't imagine having to get up at 6 would really help education in the early lessons - most the class would be asleep!

5) Summer holiday cut from 6 weeks to 4 weeks - I don't really see the point of this tbh

12) 11+ exams enforced - Don't most secondary schools which are for gifted children have entrance exams anyway?

10) Cost of a packet of cigarettes to rise 50p - I doubt an extra 50p will really put smokers off ;)

11) Abortion made illegal except in the cases of medical abnormality or rape - Not one I don't see a point in, but perhaps making it mandatory for unwanted children (for other reasons) to be put up for adoption?

3) Rule 42 abolished so that child killers etc no longer have segregation in prison from other prisoners - 20 years later should they still have to face the risk of being murdered for something which was probably just a terrible mistake? That may have came out wrong but I think you should get the gist of what I mean

10) Abolition of parole, if someone is sentenced to 10 years then they serve 10 not 5 - With sentences over 5 years I think you are right, any sentences under 5 years should be eligible for parole IMO

11) A fixed fine of £250 for dropping litter in the streets - £50 isn't enough? We've already heard stories of how draconian some officers are on this law, I think increasing the fine might just make it worse.

21) Union Jack to be waved from every public building and annual festivities to celebrate St George’s day to increase national pride - Agree with second part, but the Union Jack would probably end up as a target of vandalism etc.

22) BBC to be commercialised via sponsorship of programs but not adverts, this sponsorship should lead to the cutting and eventual abolition of the licence fee – so for example “Eastenders – sponsored by Samsung” with the Samsung logo shown on the title and credits screen and the placement of Samsung products in the show with Samsung paying a substantial sponsorship fee and BBC needing less money from taxpayers, this could be used for most TV programs on BBC - Sounds good in principle, not a complaint on this one but would there be a guarantee that the news wouldn't be sponsored, hence leading to a bias in news reporting on the sponsor company for example?

6) The abolition of foreign aid with money diverted to sort UK problems - Even though most Third World debt is caused by our legacy?

8) Every driver in UK retakes their driving test every 10 years - Even with the increasingly harder driving test? Perhaps 15-20 years

9) Increase maximum speed on motorways to 100mph - Or just go Autobahn style and have no limit

What would the following really achieve?

Summer holidays are too long, school should be the gateway to the world of work and in work the most lucky get 5 weeks off a year, giving kids so much time off school makes them less prepared for the world of work, also going back to school holidays 90% of people are bored after 3 weeks and that can with certain types of schoolkid lead to petty crime, vandalism, bored kids congregating in shopping centres and their time would be better served studying surely than aimlessly hanging round shopping centres trying to kill boredom ;)

I suppose it works in that respect, but it would make them incredibly unruly with British climate if they had to stay at school during the hot humid temperatures in late July/early August ;)

Plus, what would they do in the extra time? The curriculum fits comfortably into a school year at my school and we have more holidays than normal so I dread to think what it's like in state schools

I dunno how to multi quote Tyron  but will address them 1 by 1 ;)

4) School day extended...in winter day from 7.30-4 - most jobs tend to stay at 8:30-5 even in winter, and I can't imagine having to get up at 6 would really help education in the early lessons - most the class would be asleep! I think given my point about school being a gateway to work that kids should be at school for what would be the length of a working day

5) Summer holiday cut from 6 weeks to 4 weeks - I don't really see the point of this tbh explained in previous post ;)

12) 11+ exams enforced - Don't most secondary schools which are for gifted children have entrance exams anyway?

10) Cost of a packet of cigarettes to rise 50p - I doubt an extra 50p will really put smokers off extra revenue to pay for my increased pensions etc ^_^

11) Abortion made illegal except in the cases of medical abnormality or rape - Not one I don't see a point in, but perhaps making it mandatory for unwanted children (for other reasons) to be put up for adoption?Agree fully there

3) Rule 42 abolished so that child killers etc no longer have segregation in prison from other prisoners - 20 years later should they still have to face the risk of being murdered for something which was probably just a terrible mistake? That may have came out wrong but I think you should get the gist of what I mean if you cant do the time dont do the crime ;)

10) Abolition of parole, if someone is sentenced to 10 years then they serve 10 not 5 - With sentences over 5 years I think you are right, any sentences under 5 years should be eligible for parole IMO yes it is aimed at long term sentences but I still think whatever sentence is handed down by a judge should be served in full

11) A fixed fine of £250 for dropping litter in the streets - £50 isn't enough? We've already heard stories of how draconian some officers are on this law, I think increasing the fine might just make it worse. Litter is a bug bear of mine, gives towns bad reputations and encourages rats and pigeons

21) Union Jack to be waved from every public building and annual festivities to celebrate St George’s day to increase national pride - Agree with second part, but the Union Jack would probably end up as a target of vandalism etc. possibly but it would help reclaim the flag from the BNP

Absolutely, news should and always would be 100% independent

6) The abolition of foreign aid with money diverted to sort UK problems - Even though most Third World debt is caused by our legacy? the money is just going into swiss bank accounts for the dictators, nothing against foreign aid but it is being wasted atm

8) Every driver in UK retakes their driving test every 10 years - Even with the increasingly harder driving test? Perhaps 15-20 years Drivers me included get sloppy very quickly, i am an excellent driver but I would probably not pass a test now, I think retesting should be a must to maintain standards on the road particularly among the elderly

9) Increase maximum speed on motorways to 100mph - Or just go Autobahn style and have no limit I dont think the average British driver could cope with unlimited speed tbh

The extra time should be used on sport, team building exercises, extra classes like money management etc etc etc

Ah, OK, I see now ^_^

Still a fascist ?? yeah right

read what i put.... simply... a vote for thatcher was a vote for fascism. you voted for that b**ch therefore you were supporting a fascist with fascist policies, therfore you are a fascist by default.

but hold on... no your not are you... SO WHY SUPPORT A FASCIST REGIME? it dont add up... i think you are only saying your a tory to provoke debate..

Summer holidays are too long, school should be the gateway to the world of work and in work the most lucky get 5 weeks off a year, giving kids so much time off school makes them less prepared for the world of work, also going back to school holidays 90% of people are bored after 3 weeks and that can with certain types of schoolkid lead to petty crime, vandalism, bored kids congregating in shopping centres and their time would be better served studying surely than aimlessly hanging round shopping centres trying to kill boredom ;)

theres never been any correlation between the length of school holidays and crime, vandalism etc as you suggest. thats an urban myth.

I agree with all the animal ones, but on the education section 2 hours sport a day is a bit too much I think. And your school times are too long. I know some people who have to get buses, leaving at 3-ish some don't get home till 5 as it is. Making it start at 7.30 is way too early aswell. You'd have to get up at about 6am (earlier if there's several needing to get ready) and even earlier if you have to travel a long way...

That was kinda my thought.... There's a lot in Craig's 'manifesto' that I can go along with....

I have always maintained that I am economically right wing I believe in capitalism and free enterprise and so on but I have also maintained that I am much more socially liberal but economically I have found the tories to be what is best for my wallet

i dont, im better off under labour, brown in particular has been a good chancelor and certainly better then them tw@ts that thatcher had. a stable economy for a decade is a businessmans best friend.

oh and some of those points in your manifesto are actually law.. hunting with dogs is banned, thanks to blair! :P. it is illegal to hare course, bait badgers etc and we did sign up to the kyoto agreement.

oh my where to start replying!!! lol

baytree.... the romans had the right idea... build a bloody great wall to keep you lot OUT! lol

Great idea. Rebuild it. That should be a big enough construction project for those thousands of English tradesmen who have supposedly had their jobs taken from them by migrant workers and immigrants.
