I think if anything they've gained more fans since their last album, but radio have ignored them for the past 8 years or so sadly. :( So I don't hold out much hope for that.

Yes, they're not really radio friendly, but I caught them few times in radio here! I was in shock! :o

Fans are expecting new album so much.

I agree, radio started to not play them as much after Taste In Men, I remember when one of my brothers asked where they were on CD:UK when that song was out and my response was 'they only did the top ten' which was a bad thing at the time

Wikipedia says the new album is due in May, and that it's currently being mixed and mastered in Toronto, Canada. :o

So pleased we'll finally get some new material! :dancing:

NEW ALBUM DETAILS!!!!!!!!!!! :w00t:

Placebo have announced that they will release their as-yet untitled next album in June.

The album was produced by David Bottrill and wil be the follow-up to 2006's 'Meds'.

The record will be the first to feature new drummer Steve Forrest.

The band have signed with [PIAS], a European entertainment group they will now release their music through.

In a statement frontman Brian Molko said, "We were very lucky to have so many great labels interested in signing us, it means a lot, especially after 12 years of releasing records!

"But we now feel we have the right partner for Europe in these ever-changing times to continue this crazy adventure and to scale even dizzier heights with our new record."

I absolutely cannot wait! :cheer:

I've sort of overplayed all of their back catalogue over the past couple of years, so this will definitely regain my interest in them. :D

i randomly listened to Black Market Music the other day and got really excited, then listened to Meds, i never realised how much i loved them, hopefully i'll get to see them this time round, maybe they'll even play Reading Fest :o

New album details

Placebo have announced details of their 'optimistic' new album, due for release this summer.

'Battle For The Sun', the band’s sixth, is released on June 8.

The follow-up to 2006's 'Meds' was recorded in Toronto by Dave Bottrill (Tool) and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine / Nine Inch Nails), and heralds a new era for the veteran rockers.

Steve Hewitt, drummer since 1996, has been replaced by 22-year-old Californian Steve Forrest. And following the expiration of their deal with Virgin Records, Placebo chose to self-fund and license the new record themselves, with an initial European release through PIAS.

Frontman Brian Molko said of their new situation: "We've made a record about choosing life, and choosing to live, about stepping out of the darkness and into the light. Not necessarily turning your back on the darkness because it's there, it's essential; it's a part of who you are, but more about the choice of standing in the sunlight instead."

He continued: "I'm very optimistic about the future. I’m in a positive frame of mind and a good headspace. It's very exciting. There’s a lot of life in the old dog just yet."
