Posted April 19, 200620 yr X-Factor's Ward destined for number one Source: Music Week X-Factor winner Shayne Ward's debut album is a virtual certainty for number one this Sunday after currently outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined. Retail reports suggest Ward's self-titled album is close to reaching six-figures after its first two days of release and is presently outselling its closest challenger, the Columbia Label Group's newly-issued Zutons album The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living, by a margin of more than five to one. Ward's strong first-week album sales come around a month after fellow X-Factor series two finalists Journey South and Andy Abraham opened with six-figure numbers. Journey South's eponymous debut entered at one at the end of March with 216,843 sales as Abraham's The Impossible Dream arrived at two with 176,689 sales. Alongside Ward and the Zutons, Sanctuary's The Charlatans are also expected to debut inside the Top 10 this week while Peter Grant's 02 New Vintage album released through Globe/UMTV is on course for a Top 20 debut. On singles Gnarls Barkley's Warner Bros-issued Crazy is looking a solid bet to spend a fourth consecutive week at one, while Def Jam/Mercury's Rihanna leads a series of acts expected to make chart rises this week on the back of their latest singles becoming newly available as physical releases. Her single SOS, which charted a week ago as a digital-only release at number five, is expected to progress up the top five while, similarly, Universal Island's From Paris To Berlin by Infernal and Mercury act Fall Out Boy's Dance Dance are likely to leap into the Top 10 thanks to the availability this week of a physical format in each case. Other acts on course to make big chart rises in similar fashion include Warner Bros' Flaming Lips, Positiva's Deep Dish and Parlophone's Richard Ashcroft. There are expected to be no new entries in the Top 10 with highest new entry honours predicted to be won by Michael Jackson's Leave Me Alone, the latest in Sony BMG's Jacko re-issue programme, which is on course for a Top 20 debut. =================================================================== Summary Singles 01 Gnarls Berkley - Crazy 27k 02 Rihanna - S.O.S. April 19, 200620 yr Thanks, Mikey. It looks like Shayne's fans have mainly been waiting for the album (rather than buying the single last week, which wasn't very good value, so I don't blame them). That's massive sales for his debut. Second album is practically guaranteed. Gnarls Barkley hanging on to number 1, that's great. :)
April 19, 200620 yr Author That's all the info so far, other info may be thin on the ground this week.
April 19, 200620 yr There's no good news here. Both #1s are famous for the wrong reasons: a reality show or an advert. Where are the hits from new talent?
April 19, 200620 yr Very vague :( No big shocks tho, Where's that vile Sounbwoy ENT song? Hope it flops
April 19, 200620 yr There's no good news here. Both #1s are famous for the wrong reasons: a reality show or an advert. Where are the hits from new talent? Gnarls B was on an advert? They are new talent surely? Although, maybe they will be one hit wonders like White Town, who knows?
April 19, 200620 yr Gnarls B was on an advert? They are new talent surely? Although, maybe they will be one hit wonders like White Town, who knows? I'd say it's highly likely they'll become one hit wonders
April 19, 200620 yr Gnarls B was on an advert? They are new talent surely? Although, maybe they will be one hit wonders like White Town, who knows? They were on the ad for Zane Lowe's tv show...But it's not just that. It's the first song ever to be playlisted by Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music and 1 extra...It's also played on Virgin and XFM and I'm guessing from how high it is in the airplay chart it's also played a lot on other commercial stations too...
April 19, 200620 yr Author Seems there are no pre-releases this week in the top 40, I would have expected Dirty Little Things, Snow Patrol and The Racontners in this week
April 19, 200620 yr Author Btw where's Blaze?????! So far only the Music Week report to go by, got no other info
April 19, 200620 yr Author Mikey, can you tell us how much Rihanna is behind Gnarls please :D no other info is in, maybe later
April 19, 200620 yr Close to six figures for Shayne Ward's album? about 98k+ then, that should just about cover the promo then, he'll easily sell 300k+ I reckon and we'll all have to be kind to Charis at this most stressful time for him. http://www.devotedfansnetwork.com/forums/images/smilies/frantic7je.gif
April 19, 200620 yr I'd say it's highly likely they'll become one hit wonders well seeing that cee-lo green is a rapper, i think from the dirty south (think this is where all that crunck, snap and hypey stuff comes from) and knowing that rappers like turning up on other people's records i'd say he will have a discography as long as your arm in a couple of years  oh and danger mounse has had many hits as part of that gorillaz collective (yep folks they are not really cartoons, just like ice-t is not really a kangaroo!!! )
