For a team that will be in its 2nd CL final in three years, it's surprising how Liverpool doesn't keep up with Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premiere League. Do they focus more on Champions League than in the domestic tournaments?

They're better than Arsenal in the Premiership, coming from an Arsenal fan ;)

But on topic, Rafa Benitez still doesn't seem to adjusted to England well enough to really challenge for the Premiership title. He has 4/5 first team strikers, but over a whole season none of them are getting enough goals to challenge at this moment in time ^_^

Liverpool have came a long way! C'mon U reds :D Last night Penalties against Chelsea was amazing Reina is a great keeper. Liverpool & AC Milan again in the final if they beat Man U, could this be a repeat of last time :D
be interesting to see if he brings in a big Spanish striker in Villa or Torres in the summer. I wouldn't rule out a move for Owen either.

He might need to, Liverpool's strikers aren't good enough to challenge for the title in my opinion, and with Gerrard out on the right most games, they'll be 3rd at best again next season ^_^

Then how have Arsenal finished above them almost every season?

Why would they need any of those when they're signing (5 goals from 43 caps) Andriy Voronin?! :o

I assumed the Original Poster was talking about the last 3 years in the League, not just the Champions League. But if it is overall, then yeah Arsenal are better than Liverpool in the League ^_^

Liverpool are more suited to the European style of play rather than the Premiership at present. Add that to the tradition that Liverpool have in Europe and then being the most succesful British club in Europe.

European football is more suited to a slower pace and is more defensive rather than offensive, so really if you want to do well in Europe you need to sure that your defence is top notch.

With Liverpool in the Premiership though it's all really swings and roundabouts. They do need a class striker who's going to put away 20 goals a season but those sort or strikers are limited now and they cost a high amount of money. Had Liverpool been a bit more constructive with their end products and actually killed games off before teams had the chance to go and steal a win, then I think they'd be a lot closer to winning the title, than they actually are at the moment this season.

Hasn't Crouch got 19 or am I imagining it lol ?

He's scored quite a bit, not too sure how many though. But I mean League wise. I know not many strikers, get 20 goals in the Premiership that often but and 18-20 goal striker who's scored those goals purely in the League wouldn't go a miss.

Very hard to get

The only ones I can remember getting 20 league goals in recent years have been Henry, Van Nistelrooy and Drogba unless I have missed anyone out, even Michael Owen has never scored 20 league goals in a season in his career, a 20 goal a season premiership striker would be incredibly hard to get

But if you look at all those strikers they've all played for clubs that have won the Premiership in the past 10 years. Liverpool need one of those if they're gonna be challenging for the title I reckon. Crouch and Bellamy are good strikers, but they both just have good days and bad days. Kuyt is a great striker. I a bit more knowledge as to how the English game works and a bit more target practice then he might possibly become a near enough 20 goal striker in the League.

I think there is only 2 strikers outside of the premiership who could score 20 goals a season, David Villa and Samuel Et'oo, I think both are cut out greatly for the English game and would score for fun but even with the yank could Liverpool afford the £30-40m it would cost to buy either of those 2 ?

I think all teams bar Chelsea are going to have to put up with strikers who can get 10-15 goals a season and hope their team mate can do the same, only Chelsea could afford the ridiculous transfer fees for players I mentioned

Both of those strikers would seriousley add a lot to the Liverpool team, but like you say they're both likely to be very pricey. I think if Liverpool, were gonna go for one, they'd go for Villa, but I have a feeling that Chelsea will do whatever they can to stop them getting Villa or maybe even Eto'o.

Chelsea can afford the prices, but for all the money Abramovic has invested in the club, they still haven't won they CL. If they don't win the FA Cup this season either, I can imagine Abramovic won't be too pleased at all, even though I think Mourinho's fate is already sealed to be honest...

KEVIN PHILLIPS!!!

Suut-er Kevin Phillips lake! :cheer:

Didn't Fowler do it too at one point?

Yeah can imagine he not happy last night, I still think Chelsea will win the Premiership but Abramovich wants the CL and certainly Mourinho is treading on thin ice which is a shame as I like the guy, would love to have him at Spurs

You are supposedly sniffing around Defoe, with the right confidence he might get you a good number of goals a season
